Aight everybody bring out the tissues this is gonna be a bumpy ride, jkjkjk.....or am I? Either way, enjoy!
The evening sun had set on the 5th day of travel, the Fairy and the Prince were due to arrive at the bandits hideout the next day. Within the past few days a light snow had settled over the forest, not enough to hinder their journey, however the temperature was getting colder day by day. The Fairy was grumpy when it had begun, grumbling about the fickle weather patterns, but despite the chill Yuuri found the flurries delightful. He knew it was a bit of a childlike obsession, yet what soul could honestly see how magical a snowy forest looks and be so utterly unfazed? Even the Prince could see the Fairy sneaking wonder-filled glances up at the trees from time to time. They settled into a small rock cove in the side of the mountain, lucky that they found an actual shelter, for the snow had fallen heavier as the day went on. Thankfully Yuri, the Fairy, knew how to make a fire. The two warmed in a comfortable silence as the winds whirled outside the cave.
Over the past few days the two had grown close, the Prince told him all about himself and the Knight, about how they met and everything leading up until now. The Fairy, normally fairly unemotional and brash, held a spot in his heart for the two. For some reason it summoned a spot of sympathy in himself, possibly from his own past experiences.....but that was all in the past. The Fairy, in turn, told Yuuri of about himself and how his family was one of the most revered in all of the main fairy families. Most of them living in the western edge of the forest, however they roamed about from time to time. However tensions rose between the Fairy and his family, which left him roaming the outskirts of the woods. Through their days of travel they conversed the entire time, to the point where they practically knew everything about each other, however as the night fell and they sat by the fire they were both silent.
The stars were not visible, seeing as the sky was clouded over as the snow continued to drift through the trees. Only the soft sound of the wind rustling the branches of the trees could be heard, along with the crackling of the fire. The Prince was far too immersed in his own thoughts to say anything, he simply glared into the fire as he pondered what would happen the next day. His face slowly contorted into that of anxiety, it wasn't a prominent expression, however his eyes showed it all. He had no idea what he was walking in to, so he couldn't even prepare himself. The Fairy soon looked over, breaking the silence.
"So.....do you really think he's still alive?" Yuri said timidly, he didn't want to upset the older boy, however he didn't want to get into something that was clearly a lost cause.
"Yes, yes absolutely." The Prince nodded his head as he spoke, although he had his doubts as to what would happen, he was sure of the fact that he was still alive. There was no other way to explain it, he just knew. The Fairy nodded his head too, taking in a breath before regaining his brazen attitude.
"I'm going to help you, you know. I'm not letting you go in there alone." The Fairy spoke pompously, entirely confident in his decision. He had heard Yuuri speak of his training and how little he had practiced. Now, the Fairy wasn't terribly trained in the art of fighting, but as he lived in the depth of the woods he had been through his fair share of fights, he knew enough so that he could be of some use.
"Yuri I- I can't ask that of yo-", the Prince vehemently shook his head as he attempted to decline, however was cut off by the Fairy.
"Look, I know these woods and I know the kind of scum that lurk beneath these trees, there is absolutely no way I will let you go in there alone!" The Fairy was near yelling now, his fists were clenched and his expression twisted into frustration, furrowing his brows. How could Yuuri expect him to lead him all this way just to leave him when he needs help the most?
