"Where were you?" He asks, seeing her sitting in the diner, sipping what he knew to be a coffee.
"Out of town. Why?" She replies lazily, looking up. She sees the ugly, black and blue over his cheekbone. A small flash of an unrecognisable emotion flashes in her eyes, but it quickly disappears.
"What happened?" She asks. He shrugs, feeling the bruise against his skin.
"Bar fight" He briefly explains.
"I hope the other guy looks worse than you" She smiles, standing up. Her hands slipped around his neck, her hair uncharacteristically down in soft curls. He absentmindedly twirled a piece, admiring it. She doesn't notice, her lips dragging across his neck affectionately.
"I missed you, I was gone for too long" She whispers in his ear, her voice low and sensual.
"You were. 6 months to be exact" He replies flatly, stepping back. Her hands fell aimlessly beside her, her face contorting in confusion.
"Are you upset?" She asks. He steps closer, his hands gliding over her waist. Her eyes fluttered shut as he presses a soft, but yearning kiss to her coffee stained lips.
"Never mind, let's go home" He smirks.
