The next morning the children woke up and surprisingly didn't feel to scared, yes they were in a new place, with a bunch of strangers, but at less they were together, and didn't wake up to the smell of alcohol, drugs, and smoke, and they didn't wake up to loud thumbing, yelling, and hitting, and Ava awoke with all her clothes on. The children awoke to the smell of fresh food cooking in the kitchen, the sound of calm music, birds tweeting, the wind blowing, and laughter, the kids smiled and quickly walked into the kitchen to greet their foster family.
"Good morning children" said Becca as she handed them a full plate of pancakes, the kids smiled, "here you are, fresh, home-made pancakes" "wait, these are pancakes?" Asked Aiden, "yes" said Becca, "wow, we never had pancakes before" said Chloe, Becca and Matt looked to each other in surprise, "well, let's not keep yapping, let's dig in" said Dawn, and took a big bite of her pancake, then the others dug in.
Later on the kids and their foster family, went to the beach and had loads of fun, the kids stayed out of school for a couple of days, but when they finally went back, they were happy, no bruiees, no cuts, no nightmares, no pain, the kids walked into class with a smile, a real one this time, they sat down and started doing their work, Mrs. Honey noticed a huge change and was happy, she really did care about the kids, and didn't want them to suffer any longer, she was so happy, but then... She got a phone call during playtime, it was for the children, they had to go with their CAS workers, they had court... When Mrs. Honey told the kids, they were scared, "will we be made to go back?" Thought Chloe, "will mom and dad lie?" Thought Dawn, "I just want the pain to end" thought Ava, "why does bad things always happens to us?" Thought Aiden, the kids started crying, Mrs. Honey never seen the kids cry before, well, that was because, they were so broken, they had no more tears left, they cried so much at home, that, they had no more tears left to cry anywhere else, but at that moment they felt, alone, helpless, unwanted, unloved, hopeless, forgotten, and left behind.
They knew they were "thoes kids" in class, in the world, they were born in this cruel world to walk forever in pain, alone, and didn't deserve to be happy, to be loved, to be wanted... They knew, if they went home, their parents would kill them, they knew they would have a short life.
"Shh, it's okay, shh, I'll be coming with you, I'll be testifing with yous, don't be scared, you will not be going back to live with your parents" Mrs. Honey said, the kids nodded, she smiled and hugged the kids, "okay, now go play, have fun" the kids nodded and ran back into the class and started playing with the kids.
After school the kids waited to get picked up by their CAS workers, when the car pulled up, the CAS workers greeted them with a smile, "come on, it's okay, the court hopefully won't be to long" said Ruby, the kids frond and got into the car.
"Here goes nothing" said Aiden, then they were off to the court house, the kids were very tarrified, but had no choice but to be strong, Aiden looked to his sisters and smiled, "everything will be okay" but in his mind he was thinking, "I'm so scared," he had to be strong and brave for his sisters, he was the big brother, the oldest, he had to protect them and show them no fear, he had to be the bravest, strongest, angryest, and meanest, to protect them, and so his sisters wouldn't have to... But he wasn't all those things, he was scared, weak, angry, but just wanted to stay quiet, and he was mean so he could push everyone away, so they wouldn't feel no more pain! He had to put a mask on, for his sisters.
When they got to the court house door the kids started shaking, their CAS workers turned to them, "everything will be okay, don't be scared, show everyone how brave and strong you kids are!" Said Clint, the kids nodded but was still very scared, once they got inside they looked around, it was a very big building, the CAS workers took their hands and brought them to a room, "we will stay here, untill we have to go into the court room," said Liza.
The kids sat down and were still shaken, "what you think is gonna happen?" Asked Dawn, "I don't know, do you think we will see mom and dad!?" Asked Chloe worried, "yes, it's court, they have to be here, we are testifing against them" said Aiden, "I scared" Ava said, "we know Ava, but remember you are very brave, and we won't let anybody hurt you" said Aiden, Ava nodded then got onto his lap, the kids looked down with sadness, then their CAS workers came to them, "remember, you kids have to tell the truth, and nothing but the truth" said Ruby, "if you tell a lie, you will be in very big trouble" said Brittany, the kids nodded, soon someone important came and got them, he was wearing a nice black suite and black Sun glasses, Ava walked up to him and just stared, the man didn't look down at her, untill she seen a pretty butterfly ring in his pocket, she went to grab it, the man grabbed her hand, she jumped and gasped, so did her siblings, Ava started shaking, and the man could feel her shaking, she thought she was gonna get hit, or worse! She was scared, but then... The man, smiled, he let go of Ava's hand and kneed down to her, with one big smile he handed her the ring, "this ring is very important, it will give you the strength and bravier to face this court session" said the man, Ava looked at the ring and her mouth dropped, then she put it on, she smiled back at the man, then she ran back to her siblings and showed them, her siblings smiled and hugged Ava, that, was the most excitement they had that evening.
But it ended when they walked into the court room, they sat down with their CAS workers, they looked into the crowd of people and seen Mrs. Honey! And their foster family! They were so happy to see them! But then, they seen their mom and dad walk in with police, the kids started shaking, their parents stared at them with so much hatred, the kids clinned to each other for dear life, Ava hugged her ring, the kids were trying to be brave and strong, but then, the Judge walked in and the man that gave Ava the ring said, "all rise" so everyone aroused from their seats, the kids were the slowest ones, then the Judge was up by his desk and said, "please be seated" so everyone sat, then he took his gavel and banged it onto a sound block, "this court can now come to order" he said, the Judge had dark brown hair, blue eyes, and nice brown skin, he was wearing a red robe and black marker by his neck.
When he started talking the kids couldn't pay attention, they kept staring at their parents, and their parents were giving them the evil eye, the kids were really scared, but not as scared as when the judge called on them! "Children, please, oldest to youngest, come to the stand" he said, so Aiden swollowed his guts and roused to his feet, slowly walking up to the stand, he sat down and stared at his parents, and whipping off sweat from his face, "Aiden, please place your hand to your heart" said his parents lawyer, Aiden did, "do you, Aiden Clowd, swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth?" Aiden nodded, he swollowed his spit and said, "yes sir" then the court went on, soon it was Ava's turn, Aiden stood up and said, "Ava, doesn't talk anymore" "she only talks to us sometimes" the Judge then looked to the children, "alright, Aiden, come up with her, say only what she tells you" said the Judge, Aiden nodded, then he took Ava's hand and they walked up to the stand, Ava swore to tell the truth then it continued, "Ava, sweetheart, can you tell us what your mommy and daddy did?" Asked the lawyer, Ava then whispered in Aiden's ear, then Aiden asked, "which time?" The layer chuckled and looked to their parents, "um, the time before you told Mrs. Honey" Ava whispered in Aiden's ear then he said, "mom and dad beat us when they were stone cold drunk" "okay, how so?" Ava whispered in his ear again, "they would punch us, kick us, rip us, they don't care if we live or die" Aiden then took a deep breath and said the last thing Ava had whispered to him, "they were planning to kill us that night, but failed when a neighbor knocked on the door to see what was going on, mom and dad lied of course" "what happened when the niebour came?" Asked the lawyer, "when she knocked on the door, mom and dad quickly made us hide in the basement, then dad cleaned up the blood when mom answered the door, the niebour came in and she didn't see anything wrong so she left, then mom and dad came to the basement and beat us there, that's all that happened that day, that we remember" Aiden said, what Ava told him, then she whispered one last scary thing, Aiden looked down with sadness then looked to the lawyer, "and, at 3AM, our dad went into Ava's room, and..." He stopped, "and what?" Asked the lawyer, "he, raped her" Ava, whipped tears out of her eyes, "no more" Ava said quietly, the judge looked to Ava and knew she was asked enough, "okay, no more questions, you kids may take a seat now" Aiden nodded, and took Ava's hand and walked to their seats, Chloe and Dawn hugged them.
It was now their parents turn.
At the end of the trailer their parents pleaded guilty and were taken to jail for 10 years, the kids were happy! They have won! But.. it was still not quite over.
