We had been packing for approximately 3 hours when my mother called us to the kitchen to have some dinner. We all sat down and quickly scoffed down the mac n' cheese that she had made. Then, we continued packing, until they had to leave. I bid them farewell, and went back to my room. I continued to pack until it was around 10 pm. I yawned, and set off for bed.
---------(The next day)---------
I woke up around 10:30, and then swiftly gotten up, seeing as Quinny was to be here in 30 minutes. I threw on a pair on jeans, and a raglan shirt. I rush to the kitchen and grabbed my breakfast. "You sure slept in late." my mother remarked. I simply rolled my eyes and continued eating. Just as I set my dishes in the sink, I heard my doorbell ring. I walked to the door and opened it.
"Hey Quinny!" I greeted once I noticed her in front of me.
"Hey!" She responded, all too excited. I stepped aside to let her in. She walked in and took off her shoes, pushing them aside. I lead her to the bathroom and showed her what to do, what stuff goes in what boxes. I then left to go start taking apart my bed, dresser, nightstand, bookshelf, and vanity. It took me about an hour to finish them. I was putting the parts away when Quinny walked in my room and stated that she was finished. I got up and asked her to help put away the furniture parts. By 12:30, all of the boxes in my room and bathroom were all packed up.
We walked out to the kitchen to see my mother packing up the dishes. "Hey mom, we finished packing, what can we do now?" I asked politely.
"Can you take apart the TV stand? I tried but it's more of a two man job." She responded, giving us a kind glance. We moved over to the TV stand and began. We finished within 10 minutes, and started putting all the pieces in a worn out box. Probably from when my mom first moved here, after she gave birth to me. She wasn't able to head back home after what happened.
-----FLASHBACK-----
"PUSH! PUSH!" The doctor yelled, the baby soon popping out. Karen lied there, panting, relieved that the birth was over. The doctors around her held the crying child, and cut the umbilical cord. They took the child away to go get her washed up. "Congrats Karen, the child is a healthy baby girl!" Karen simply smiled with glee. A couple minutes later the baby came into the room, being carried by a nurse. She was handed the baby, which was surprisingly calm. She smiled down at her, unable to control her excitement.
There was a knock on the door suddenly, and the nurse opened it to see a distressed looking woman. Karen heard the woman whisper something to the nurse, looking apologetic. The nurse then closed the door and walked over to Karen's side. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but.... Your husband got in a car accident on hit way here. He was hit by a drunk driver and died on impact." She spoke softly, feeling sad for her. The world came crashing down around her.
-----END OF FLASHBACK-----
After that, my mom sold the house and moved here. Not wanting to live around all those memories. Quinny and I finished the task they were given and suddenly felt hungry. They ate some sandwiches for lunch, and then continued packing. we worked until about 4 PM, and by then everything was done and ready to be loaded, which would happen tomorrow. So we sat down and played on their phones until Quinny had to leave. I gave her a goodbye hug, then went to eat some dinner. I slept on the ground that night with a pillow and blanket. The ground was really uncomfortable so I barely got any sleep. I kept thinking about what Queens would be like. I finally got some sleep at around 3:30 AM. I only hope that Queens will be a welcoming town.
