Lavender

Lavender.

Soak it into my skin, so I never smell anything else,
Cover me in the purple scent, sent to protect me.
She was allergic to lavender,
would've gone to any end of the earth to keep it away.
So I'll soak in it's calm to keep her away, the way someone might rub garlic to ward off wandering fangs.
I'll have it driven into my wrists by needles,
carry it with me somewhere I can see,
so that I can look down and remember that this means that she can't touch me,
that this means that I mean something,
that I'm worth something,
that maybe one day I might be okay.

Blind me with purple,
drown me in oil.
