She's 16 years old, and the younger sister to Marie Gilbert. If you don't know Marie, I'm guessing you don't live in Mystic Falls. She's definitely the talk of the town.. everyday. Almost the opposite of Elena when it comes to getting the attention. Elena is reserved, smart, and kind.
She's always had a passion for singing, and she's amazing at it. When she was younger, Marie would boss Elena around and tell her she can't sing, because she doesn't want anyone to think Elena is better than her. Ever since then, Elena has always been too afraid to speak up to her, so she never does.

"This is the summer. I'm going to finally do it. Yep. It's happening." she says to herself as she wakes up. She's going to try to get a job at a recording studio, and maybe from there, she could try to show them her voice. She knows deep down that will probably never happen because she's so shy, but even if she can't sing in front of people she still wants to be involved with the whole singing process. That's why she's made up her mind about doing it.
"ELENA! Get down here," her mom yells. "There's something called making breakfast." Yeah, you should learn about it, she mumbles to herself. Elena lives with her mom and Marie, and ever since her dad's death, Elena has always done the cooking and cleaning. Her mother never learned how to cook.
"I'm coming mom, just a sec!" she changes into her favorite American Eagle skinny jeans which are basically the only ones she wears, because she hates shopping. Afterwards, she throws on a light baby blue sweater and sneakers.
