Not perfect like Marie

Elena runs into the bathroom and tries to stop crying. She looks in the mirror and frowns at her reflection in the mirror. "I'm not blonde, and noticeable, or just perfect like Marie... Why couldn't I be freaking perfect?" she thinks to herself. "Of course the guy I've liked for years, hardly notices me. And he is way out of my league anyway, but not Marie's league..."

She locks the door and sits down on the floor for about 20 minutes trying to calm down. She hears a knock on the door. "Hello?" It's Stefan.

"One second!" Elena's voice cracks and she starts to wipe her tears off her face. She unlocks the door and sees him standing there.

"A-are you okay?" He says and puts his hand on her arm.

"Yeah, of course. I'm fine." She avoids eye contact with him and tries to hide her face.

"It.. looks like you have been crying."

"No -- You should get back to Marie, since she's renting out the studio.. Soo, yeah." She shrugs and starts to walk out of the bathroom.

"Oh, she left a couple minutes ago. But, are you sure you're ok?" He asks her. Elena nods her head and walks into the shop.

Elena sits in the register chair and Stefan sits down after her in a spinny chair. A few customers come in and she helps them, while her and Stefan don't talk for about an hour. She goes back to reading her book and notices Stefan looking at her in the corner of her eye.

"What?" she asks him.

"Nothing." he replies. She looks back at her book. "So, what happened with you earlier, in the bathroom?" he raises an eyebrow.

"Nothing." she looks at him and smirks.

"Well," he stands up. "I'm hungry."

"Oh - ok," Elena replies. "Do you want me to get you food?"

"How about we go together?," Elena looked at the ground to hide her cheeks that were turning red, "I have you here from 3-8, might as well repay you in some way for working here for free."

She smiles at him and puts her hair behind her ear. "You want to go? With me? You really don't have to if you don't want to..."

"Well, why wouldn't I want to go with you?" She doesn't know how to answer but knows there's a lot of reasons why he wouldn't want to go with her. She nods and they both look at each other and walk out together.
