Here is a never before seen chapter of Our Circle. And what I mean by that is that every chapter before this one had been published before I took a break from this book. So I hope you all enjoy this new look into Skye's head.
•Chapter Six•
•Of Dates and Hospitals•
•Skye•"Teddy?"
"Hmm?" He grunted, shoving his hands into his pockets. We were sitting on the bleachers after school. The metal of the bleachers are practically freezing my skin, even through my jeans.
"I wonder what it would be like to live in a place like California? I've lived here most of my life, and haven't ever really left. I can't imagine the year without autumn or winter." I sighed, laying my head against his shoulder, hoping to gain some of his warmth.
"Yeah, it'd be weird, but I'd imagine it would get real old real fast. I'm happy with four seasons. But there's gotta be a reason people are always trying to go there." He chuckled, wrapping his arm around me and pulling me closer, officially sharing his warmth.
"I suppose. I guess I'm tired of the cold." I mumbled more to myself than to Theo. "I'll go to college in California." I all but whispered incoherently.
"Skye?" He asked after a minute of silence.
"Hmm?" I looked up at his face, his eyes looking off into the distance at the empty football field.
"Do you want to go on a date?" He bit his lip nervously, finally looking down at me.
"Like an actually date, boyfriend and girlfriend type of thing?" I asked to make sure I wasn't about to make an absolute fool of myself.
"Yeah, if you want. I like you and you know we've kissed and stuff, so I thought why not? I want to see where this goes. Do you?" He asked nervously.
"Yes!" I squealed, throwing my arms around his neck and pressing my lips to his. His arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer. I opened my lips, letting his tongue slip in and push against my own. My fingers traveled up his neck and into his hair, clutching at it desperately, hoping to never let him go, never lose this moment. His fingers twisted into my shirt, tugging me closer, if it was even possible. My lips moved against his, he pushed back with just as much force. Soon I was pulling back, needing to get air back into my lungs.
"When is a good time for you?" He asked, still holding me close, his warm breath fanning against my face, actually helping to defrost my bright red nose.
"Next weekend is better for me." I pondered, thinking over my schedule and the impending holiday.
"Okay, I can do next Saturday." He nodded in agreement with me.
"Yeah!" I squealed again, not even bothering to consider my Saturday plans. "Can you get a car this weekend?"
"Nah," He sighed. "I've got no car privileges." His typical frown deepened.
"Well, I can use my grandma's car, but I have to drop her off first and then I can come and pick you up. The only problem is we have to be done by the time I have to pick her up. She has a few doctor appointments, so we've got maybe four hours." I rattled off.
"Yeah, okay. I'll text you my address and four hours should be fine." He nodded to himself. Thats enough time to do the cheesy movie date." He joked.
"Okay," I couldn't erase the beaming smile from my face. This is the happiest I've felt in a long time. "Come on, lets go home. Its too cold to stand around here." I was too giddy with joy to be still anymore.
Theo grabbed my hand as we clamored down the bleachers and headed for home. I didn't actually know where he lived, but it couldn't be too much farther from me since he doesn't take the bus. I guess I'll find out next week. "Can I come over today?" Theo asked.
