“Stay away from here, May. Take your brother and run into the forest. Your father is strong and will fight them off.”
“Daddy--!”
“May! Leave with your brother and mother. Don’t come back until it is clear.”
“Come on sweety. Let’s go.”
“What about Dawn! We need to see her.”
“She’ll be fine. Now take your brother and--”
“Mommy!!”
“Take the Rose girl. King Ghetsis needs her.”
“Ahh!”
“Sister!!”
“Max!!” I woke up from another memory. It was the separation. Every time I have that dream, it gets more detailed. Scarier.
“May! Are you okay?” Dawn ran into the room that Drew used before I sent him off to the castle. I’ve been living with her for a couple months now, and every night I have some sort of memory come back to me ad a dream. They mostly have to do with my family.
“I’m fine. I saw more if what happened that night. Max called out to me, but I couldn’t get to him. What happened? Is he okay?” Comforting me, Dawn helped me out of bed.
“Well, let's get some breakfast and see if the guards have another letter for you from your castle friends.” Nodding to her, I get dressed into black tights and a simple white dress with a red tied bow in the back.
“What are we doing today? You going out to that one town to see that boy of yours?” Blushing Dawn protests.
“I’m on work to sell my dresses to the people of that town, just so happens that he lives there and i think of him as cute.”
“Well, since I look so different, can I go with you? Please?” sighing she agrees. After having pancakes for breakfast we pack some sandwiches in a basket and set off to the gates.
“Wait. Before we go out. Put this on.” She gave me a small red and white bandanna to put on. “I’ll tie it for you.” After putting my hair up in the bandanna, Dawn tied a bow on top. “It looks good.”
“Thanks, Dawn.” After going up to one of the guards. They hand us a letter with the Sapphire royal seal.
“What does it say?”
“Let’s wait until we leave to read it.” Walking out of the village, I open the letter. I read out loud to Dawn what it said. “Dear girly,
I do hope that you are as ugly as ever with--”
“May! Read what it actually says.”
“Fine.” I start from the beginning.
“‘Dear December,
I have to inform you that Nathaniel has been disowned by my father and is being escorted back to Harmonia. Wishing to be forgiven. The things I have said to you were arrogant and I regret them please forgive me. See me differently with those deep sea eyes of yours and tell me with passion behind your words what you think of me, as I will do the same.
Drew.
“Do you think he really wrote it?” I looked to Dawn.
“Who else calls me ‘December’?” As we walk to the town, I reread the words in Drew’s letter. “What does he really think of me, Dawn?”
She looks to me and gives me the ‘are you serious right now’ look. “What?”
“Nothing. You figure it out.”
“Do you know something I don’t?”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“But you do!” We bickered about what Dawn know until she stopped at a row of houses and looks at me.
“This is kale route town. It may sound weird, but the place is actually really pretty.” As we walk inside. Dawn goes up to a single story house that is a beige kind of color. After knocking on the door three times, a boy with dark purple hair opens it. “May, this is Paul.”
“Why do I care.” The boy said to her.
“Because May is my friend and will be working with me to deliver clothes.” Dawn’s voice seems to take a strict turn and Paul shuts up to let us in.
We talk and gather clothes that need mending. Sunset is only a few minute away so we say goodbye and leave the town of Kale route for home.
“Alright. You make dinner tonight well, I start on these clothes.” Nodding, I walk into the kitchen to start on dinner.
After two hours of cooking I call Dawn to the table for food.
“I’m going to rest in my room, night Dawn.” As I enter my room, I grab a pen and paper of off my desk and start writing a letter for Drew.
Dear prince Andrew,
After seeing your letter, I was surprised to have heard from you. Your words have kept with me all day. Thank you for the sincerity, though it is still hard for me to forgive what you have said I will try though. Reading what you had thought I have been hoping to know what you truly think of me. Words with passion, I will tell you them. I have not been able to stop thinking about you all this time. I sometimes wish you’re arrogant mouth could talk to me, but being with Dawn and knowing more about my past is something that I needed. Even if I had gone back to the castle I would not be as free and happy as I am now. Please understand that I do not hate or dislike the palace, it is just not my home anymore. Thank you for saving me from Nathaniel and I am indebted to you. If you wish it, I will return, but at my own will would I stay in such a place.
May Rose
After finishing the letter, I put on a nightgown that Dawn made and went to bed.
“Max!!”
“May, I’ll get you’r--”
“Mommy!”
“Run, May.”
“Daddy--”
“Run!!”
“Dawn!! Help!!”
Daw-- Ahhhh!!”
I awoke from the nightmare, drenched in sweat. “What happened to them?” It was the, middle of the night so I went outside to check if the guards could send my letter before I went back to sleep.
“May? What are you doing out at this time?”
“I need this letter sent to the castle. It is to prince Andrew.” Nodding, the guard took my letter. I set off for home. Once I got back sleep didn’t come. “Drew? What do you think of me?”
A knock on the door began. I walked down the stairs. Not wanting Dawn to walk up. The knocking continued. “I’m coming, I’m coming.” As I opened the door, the same guard that I gave my letter to stood outside my door. “I-is there a problem?”
“His majesty has been waiting so long for this.” He covered my and knocked me out. Not before I saw Nathaniel come from behind him, though. “Prince N Harmonia. Did I do well to hide my Harmonian soldier heritage from these silly Sapphire kingdom guards?”
“Very…”
