“Nathaniel!” I called out for the prince. Wondering around, I felt lost. “Nathaniel, where are you!” Desperation in my voice, footsteps approached me.

“There you are, my princess.” Nathaniel with his long green hair came up behind me.

“N--” He ran up to me with a large bag. “Ahh!!” I started to sprint away. Fear in my stomach and tears in my eyes, I kept running. Not able to find my way back or know where Nathaniel was, I kept running in a straight line, avoiding trees and roots. “Help!!” I had no other words. “Help!” My voice faded as time went along. I was alone with Nathaniel following me in this horrid forest. “Help…..”

Stopping behind a tree, I cried. Ready for the prince to take me away. I had no more strength to run. “Help me, Daddy….”

“Shush. He’ll find us, girly.” Prince Andrew appeared next to me.

   “Princ--”

“I said to be quite.” Nodding rapidly, he picked me up. “Stay still, we need to get out of this damned forest.” He started running northeast.

   “Is he still behind us?”

“Quite.” He told me sternly. “We’re almost out.” In a couple moments, I saw light coming from between a few trees. As we got closer, the forest of trees disappeared.

    “Thank you, prince Andrew.”

“Don’t thank me yet. We haven’t lost him. He’ll find us if we stay here.” Keeping a firm hold on my waist and legs, he carried me through a wrecked town.

   “I love you, mommy!”

“I love you, too, may. My darling rose child.”

   “I love roses!”

“Of course you do. You are May Rose after all.”

As we ran through the burned town, I struggled to have prince Andrew put me down. “What the hell are you doing?!!”

“Put me down! This is my home.” He, reluctantly, set me down. “Thank you.” I walked over to a burned  house. It was larger than the others. Going through the empty doorway, I was greeted by a chard dining table. “Mom….”

“This is your home? Wow, you must be poor.”

“Mom….” Prince Andrew seems to regret what he had said when I ignored him. “I don’t remember it well, but it wasn’t like this before Sapphire saved me…”

   “Saved?”

Nodding I continue. “The nobleman Ashton and his mother were on there way to the Sapphire kingdom palace, but saw me being taken away by a Harmonian soldier. That’s all I really know about how I came to become a maid at the castle.”

  “Maid?!”

“I do have a last name. And I know my first name.”

“You're that disrespectful maid! Mavis was it?”

“That is the name that I was given by this kingdom. I am May Rose. Daughter of Caroline and Norman. Sister if a boy named Max.”

“Is that supposed to mean something to me?”

“Why was I taken well everything else was left to burn?”

“You the girl that was born in roses and love. Who saw flames of black and blue. One who has the sight of the deep sea. Meloetta’s daughter. The first daughter of roses.” Nathaniel came up behind prince Andrew talking to me about some sort of prophecy.

   “Nathaniel!!”

“Please brother, I need her for the king.”

   “Why would father need, May?”

“King Ghetsis will gladly take May here to see her family.”

   “Wh--”

“Take me to my brother. I have to see him. He was so small at that time.” Starting to walk out of the house, prince Andrew grabbed me and pushed me inside the house. “Prin--”

   “Bad idea, brother.”

“I told father not to take you in! You are not my brother. You are the prince of Harmonia!”

“H-Harmonia?!!” My eyes quivering, prince Andrew picked me up. He ran me up the stairs. Soldiers were all around the house and Nathaniel was coming after us. “Prince Andrew!”

“Shut up, girly. You may be Meloetta’s daughter, but a maid you still are, and this mess is way too big for your hands. We need to get back to the castle and to find some more servants.”

   “But--”

“Would you just be quiet and let me save us. You do owe the kingdom of Sapphire a lot.” I shut my mouth as Nathaniel kept chasing us throughout the house.

  “We’re stuck.”

“Hold on!” Prince Andrew tightened his grip and jumped out of the hollowed window. I screamed and help onto his shirt for more security. “Keep still. I’m gonna take you to a nearby Sapphire village.

“What?” He started running threw all the Harmonian soldiers to a village somewhere east.

“We are here. I’m letting go, now.”

“Wait. Wha--” Before I could finish, prince Andrew dropped me on the ground.

“Harmonian soldiers can’t come in here. This town is protected by Sapphire soldiers.”

“Well, thank you for helping me. I am very sorry, prince Andrew.”

“That is kinda getting annoying. The whole prince thing is just a stupid title that limits me from freedom. I’d really rather not be called that.” Prince Andrew groaned as we walked through the village.

“Well, what would you like to be called?”

   “D--”

“May!!” A girl with shoulder length, blue hair tackled me down to the ground. “May! Is it really you?”

   “Umm….”

“It’s me, Dawn! We met fifteen years ago and became best friends. Once I saw the fire, I ran to see you, but some royal family was taking you back to the castle.”

   “Dawn?”

“I sorry, but June here does not remember much of her childhood after such a traumatic event.” Prince Andrew said, helping this Dawn girl off of me.

“June?” The blue haired girl seemed confused.

“Pay no mind to my friend here. This is pr-- Ow!!” Prince Andrew stepped on my foot.

“Sorry, September. I’m Drew. Dawn was it?”

“Yes. Your friend June or September? Well, she looks like a friend of mine when I was six. We met fifteen years ago and twelve years ago I lost her to the Sapphire kingdom after her home was burned by Harmonian soldiers.”

“Well Dawn. It’s great to see you again. Drew likes to mess with my name as a joke. I’m May Rose.”

“I knew it was you all along.” She laughed at the point that she didn’t actually know. “Though, what happened to you all those years ago?”

“First I need to know what happened before twelve years ago. Unfortunately I have only started to get my memory back, but only things about my mother.”

“Sure! We can go to my shop. I run a dress shop in this village. You can follow me. Drew can come, too.”

   “Thanks…” He said very enthusiastically.
