As a normal village girl I was used to the ways of king Ghetsis. When I was four prince N was born. I remember the day. The small child was so innocent. I felt sorry for him, after all, how hard must it be to have a tirant as a father, almost suicidal. Gary and I met ten years later. I had just lost my parents the year before and had run into a nearby town to escape the woman I was working for. Crying behind a house, Gary came out and saw me.
“You look stupid crying like that.” I looked up to him and sobbed louder. No one came. We were alone. He tried to help me. Tried to get me up. It was hard to trust him, but I did, eventually. Staying silent to him, I was led into the house that I was behind. “This is my grandpa. Samuel Oak. I’m Gary Oak.” The old man walked over to me.
“What is your name, little missy?” The man acted so nice to me. I felt happy.
“Leaf. I am Leaf Green.” Bowing to the old man, he started to laugh. I looked up and saw a little twinkle in his eyes. He was so happy.
“Well, miss Leaf. What brings you to my grandson and my home?” After looking around the room, I spoke to him about what happened to me.
“My parents past away about a year ago and left me to work for my dinner and a place to call home. I’d been working at a place in the capital as a house cleaner. The woman whom I work for treated me as if I was an object. Seeing the new prince, I remembered my mother and father. They loved and took care of me. After seeing how the prince was growing up, I ran, ran away from her, that monster, the king’s overruling leadership. I ran away from the people I worked with and for I ran away from the capital. My old life. I miss them....” My life had been taking each left turn for the past year, but at that moment, I took the right turn that would lead me to a happy life. It was hard, though.
“So, you don’t have a home because you left it. How great. A spoiled child.”
“I am not spoiled. I lost them. They left me after saying that they would always be with me. I really hate them!!” Yelling at Gary, I ran out of the house. He came after me, calling my name.
“Leaf girl. Come on back!”
“Shut up! At least you have a family. You are just an arrogant fool!” He sprinted for me and grabbed my arm.
“You better not say something like that again!” Dragging me back to his grandpa and his home. As we went inside. His grandpa explained why his parents weren’t living with them.
“As you know, my grandson and I in this house. It is true that we are the only ones living here. Gary here’s parents past away a few years after he had been born and felt him with me. I see how you still seem a little envious that he has family, but remember that he never knew his parents.” Looking over to Gary, I tried to say sorry.
“I am so sor--” Cutting me off, Gary left.
“Whatever. Just leave.” I tried to follow him, but his grandfather kept me back.
“My grandson does not deal well with the concept of forgiveness. He is a little stubborn. Seeing as you do not have a place to live, why not stay with us?” My eyes beamed and hugged him. “I take that as a yes.” Laughing he hugged me back.”
“Thank you so much, um…..”
“Call me grandpa. It’s what all the villagers here do.” Smiling I started to cry on his shoulder. I found a new home, family. I loved that man for making me feel like I meant something.
I lived for the next year happily, I made them my family. I loved them. I soon started to love Gary as well. More than my brother or family. I fell in love with him, but denied it. I had boyfriends almost every week once we turned fifteen. They never felt right, I didn’t even like them. I loved Gary.
“Leaf, what is up with you. You’ve been acting strange. All those stupid guys?!” I wanted to make him jealous after a while.
“What of it. Might as well keep going around so I can find the right guy. None so far though.”
I would talk with Grandpa all the time. About how I loved Gary, about wanting to make him jealous. One day, when I turned seventeen, Grandpa fell ill and past away as we talked. I was there. He had a heart attack, keeping his sickness to himself. I cried to Gary about it for the rest of the year.
“Happy birthday, gary!” I started to become more motherly and would cook, clean and look after Gary, as well as all the kids in our village. It was gary’s eighteenth birthday. He seemed off for the last few weeks. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m moving to the capital to become a guard at the palace. It would help us keep a place and you wouldn’t have to work so hard.”
“Gary…” I went over to him and hugged him tight. I had to tell him. “I won’t let you! I love you much. I cannot deny it any longer. I can’t lose my family.” He kissed me and told me that it was because he loved me that he was doing it. That he didn’t want me to feel like I had about eight years prior. I left with him to the capital. We got married six years ago we got married. Now we are to have a child.
