It wasn't too long before the ship landed in a large city, sitting upon the sea. The noise of the place, Luca, was loud, yet incredibly friendly. The energy was almost contagious.
The arrival in Luca was a bit of a brief respite. Being on land again was a bit of a refreshment. However, the group hadn't settled down for very long before they decided to pace forward to Mi'ihen Road. They wanted to at least reach before it got late. Sasha was walking alongside Zidane, talking on and on about weird things in this new world that they spotted, taking bets on what they think this was used for, or how that came to be. They were laughing and having fun, not wanting to worry about if tensions would rise again soon.
Lulu and Rikku were in the lead of the group of misfits. All around the city, people were talking about this event, or that sport, or that new celebrity. Sasha was amazed at how similar Spira and Earth suddenly seemed to be when coming in contact with a larger group of people.
The buildings were tall, the city had a much different feel about it then Besaid. There was even a huge spherical stadium near the middle of their location, see-through and empty. Sasha had wondered what it could be for briefly but didn't find much interest in it otherwise.
Finally, they came to some steps, leading up to a balcony overlooking most of Luca. From this height, it was easier to see the whole area, and how impressive it actually was.
They continued up the last flight of stairs, and when they reached the top, Sasha saw a road that went along as far as the eye can see, ruins of old buildings or statues, or another assortment of old, ruined surroundings on either side of the road in odd, seemingly random places.
"Here we are," Lulu announced, walking forward. "Let's hope that we can find something useful here.
Takumi walked down the road a bit. She could picture the flames from Japan dancing around her feet; the road felt empty. Soulless. She came to a stop at one of the ruins, staring up at it. "...Why does this... all feel so strange?"
"Probably because it's in ruins." Rikku called.
"Well, there's..." Sasha started, looking at all the people around her, "6 of us, so why don't we split into 2 groups and start looking around at the first ruins that came up, and make our way down." She looked around, everyone nodding. "I'll go with Zidane, and..." Then she pointed towards Takumi and Emma, "One of you follow me. The rest, pick a different ruin. Hopefully, this won't take too long."
"I'll go along with you, Sasha..." Takumi replied.
"Great! Have fun!" Rikku beamed before walking ahead.
Emma beamed, looking around. She loved this Greek, Roman, Egyptian stuff... this was what she wanted to do when she graduated. "I'll look around by myself." She said, going off to look around.
Sasha gave a small nod towards Takumi and Zidane, before heading almost absentmindedly down the road on the left side, towards the first ruin she laid eyes on. It was what seemed to have been a pillar in its early days. She walked around it twice, slowly examining every crevice, every small detail. She crouched down at the back side of it, pushing away dirt and grass that had gathered, hoping to uncover something, anything that would lead to a helpful clue as to what their odd mismatched group should do next towards their quest.
She glanced back up at the road, seeing a few people pass by every now and then. They each seemed like they had a destination in mind, either Luca, or wherever it was that this Mi'ihen Highroad leads to, it didn't seem this place was exactly one people would come to for entertainment, or for any other reason them just passing by. With the traffic this location received, even if it was a small amount, Sasha didn't feel too hopeful in finding anything. If there was something here unusual that would lead to more parts of a locally-famous tale, then surely it would have been uncovered by now.
