Adrien was breathing heavily when he approached their door. He knocked once. Then twice. A worried Sabine opened the door for him. "What's wrong Adrien?" Adrien didn't even reply as he stepped inside the cold home.

Without Marinette, it didn't feel like it once did. Before she was sick, they had played video games in her room once. She beat him and they laughed for hours. It no longer felt like a home here. It just felt empty.

"I'm really sorry to bother you right now, but you have to read this." Adrien presented the white envelope to her parents. Sabine took it hesitantly. "It's from Marinette." His words were loud in the now quiet house.

Tom held his wife's shoulders in a strong and loving embrace. Adrien watched as Sabine opened the letter and unfolded the paper. Her hands were shaking. Tom read over her shoulder. It was heartbreaking to watch.

Sabine's whole body shook as she read. Her sobs echoed in the lonely home. Adrien watched as a man he looked up to begin to cry. She turned the paper over like she was expecting to find more of Marinette but didn't. It was like the whole world had crushed her. She crumbled to the floor, crying out to a daughter that wasn't there anymore.

Tom gathered her in his arms trying to soothe her but nothing seemed to be working. Adrien bit his lip hard because the tears that he thought would stop continued to flow.

This wasn't a home anymore. It was something unrecognizable.

Adrien stepped forward unsurely. His footsteps faltering. Sabine turned to look at him with tear-filled eyes and pink cheeks. She opened her arms and Adrien found himself going to her. He cried against her as she rocked him. They were all crying in the remnants of a home.

Because how could it be a home when Marinette was gone?
