Drawn To The Enemy: Chapter Eleven
I pull the sleeves of the sweater up, and finger comb the wet, matted, strands of my hair loose. The rest of the shower wasn't as relaxing as I'd wished it would be. I only imagined the way Alaric held me, or grabbed my face and pressed our lips together. My exterior bodice craved his touch, but inside I didn't want him even near me.
When I came out the bathroom, two parts of me battled and clashed head to head. The part of me that was relieved he wasn't in the bedroom, so I could think and not worry about him watching me, and the part of me that felt neglected, isolated, and slightly longing for his presence. My ambivalence withheld two completely contrasting emotions, equally weighing in with positive and negative energies that made me feel like an alien to my own body and feelings.
I put my dirty clothes in the hamper Alaric had set in the room, and look at the door --- tempted to step out only to search for Him. Biting my lip softly, I breathe out and step up to the door, grabbing the knob. I close my eyes for a few seconds and swing the door open, jumping back at the person on the other end. Her eyes are large and her long black her is into two thick braids, swooped over her shoulders.
She's shorter than me by a few inches, and her figure is thin yet petite. She looks up at me with two large dark brown doe eyes, and I can tell she's younger than I am. Her lips part slightly as if she was rather shocked to see me. "So the rumors are true ... We're sharing our land with a real Werecat," She whispers. She smiles a little. "This is amazing..."
"Where's Alaric?" I ask.
"You should call him by his formal name --- Alpha," She corrects, and I immediately know she is unaware I am His Mate and have the displeasing advantage of calling him whatever the hell I want.
I apologize to her anyway. "I'm sorry. Where is the, Alpha?"
"Speaking with the Beta, in her room."
I raise my eyebrows. "Really? Harley?"
"Yes ma'am." She seems to be acquainted with manners, the first I've seen that attained the aptness to be polite.
"Do you know what they are talking about?"
"No," She giggles. "But the Alpha wasn't wearing anything when he went in there," She snickers again. "He's so....cute," A blush blazes on her cheeks, and I smile down at her softly even though I have processed the fact he didn't go in there just to talk.
"Yeah," I say simply.
She welcomes herself in without consent, and I close the door behind her. I watch as she absorbs the room with her mouth formed in the shape of an adoring 'o'.
"Wooow..." She mumbles. "I've never been in the Alpha's room before. Its so nice in here, and you get the luxury of returning to it every night." She turns around to look at me. "What's it like to be a Feline sleeping with a Wolf?"
"It was hard to swallow at first but now I barely even notice his presence ... no matter how hard he tries to get me too," I mumble the last part.
She stares at me, then smiles, thrusting her hand out. "I'm Liyun,"
"Nice to meet you, Liyun. I'm Zara," I grasp her hand and give it a shake. Her skin is soft, and she looks down at the gesture with big eyes. "Woah," She says.
"What's wrong?"
She turns my arm over when our hands disconnect, and trails her warm fingertips over a dark scar. "What happened here?"
"Nothing," I say, snatching my arm away. She looks up at me again, a frown almost daring to show. "They say you were the one who took out Casper and Gretel,"
Casper and Gretel?
"The run-wolves,"
"The patrollers," I conclude. "Yeah..."
"So you did?"
"I didn't mean too. It was a big misunderstanding, in all honesty. I severed a devastatingly tragic, incident, and I got too deep in a episode. I wasn't aware I'd do something so terrible." I try to tell her, but she waves her hand and shakes her head.
"Stop, don't even worry about it. Those two were nothing but trouble. I'm personally glad they're gone."
I nod, watching her.
"So Zara," She falls back on the bed. "Tell me about yourself,"
"I don't thi-"
"I'll go first," She pulls me down to sit next to her. "Then maybe you'll feel comfortable."
"Uh --- O-okay..."
"Well, like I said, my name is Liyun, and............"
