Drawn To The Enemy: Chapter Fourteen

Before hints of the sun's glare even peaks through the blinds, I feel myself slipping into consciousness. Alaric's body is still behind me, his warmth looming from his bodice, and his arm lightly draped over my waist. It wasn't the first time he'd mysteriously gravitated closer to me throughout the night.

And every time he did, I was more reluctant about pushing him off. I feel that his heat is spooning me behind, and as my eyes are closed, I grip the bed sheets with the hand that's arm is pressed against the cool spread. When my eyelids part, I look through the spacings in the blinds to meet the beautiful orange hue of the morning's sunrise.

The large bulb of fire is ever-so-slowly guided to its setting peak, and the gorgeous thick apparitions of fog and clouds drift through the sky.

I close my eyes again, and inhale. Alaric's musk burns my nostrils, and I nudge his arm off my body carefully, casting him a glance whilst sitting up. Warm fingertips belonging to myself graze over my heated arms from the Alpha's scorching clasp, and I break my focus of admiration with the window, to kick the blanket off my body.

I swing my naked feet across the mattress and onto the floor, and they touch something soft and cold. Moving off, I can clearly see that its a bundle of flowers wrapped neatly in a green crinkly covering. The buds of the mixed pickings of nature are flattened into the floor, and a flashback of last night crosses my mind.

My heart starts to hurt. Frowning, I lean down and pick up the bouquet like its a small animal that's just been hurt and requires medical attention --- like I didn't want to injure the apologetic gift further.

I spare Alaric another look, and with a silent sigh, I set them next to his sleeping body. They still smelled fresh when you didn't think about the dog scent that was imprinted in the carpeted flooring.

Knock, knock.

Hearing the door notify me of a possible threat that would want to see the Alpha, and not myself, I decide at that moment, it probably wouldn't be a wise idea to open it. After all, he did tell me not to let anyone else in his room.

For some reason, I think Harley is the one on the other side. If so, she would probably find a way in without my welcoming whether it was allowed or not.

Knock, knock.

I don't move an inch, ignoring the urge to see who chose to grace us with their company. After a few seconds, the dark shadow from underneath the door passes, yet I still pause for an additional minute until I'm near positive they are really gone. I don't check on Alaric before advancing towards the door. I know he's still knocked out. Why not save him the time?

When I make it to the hinges, I press my hands against it, let my ear rest on the wood, and listen.

Silence.

Then I sniff around like an idiot. It's not crazy, its necessary when you're a Were-Feline living in a Wolf Pack.

The person's scent is nothing but a distant memory compared to the captivating, mouthwatering aroma that lies on the other end. I twist the small lock on the knob, pull open the door, and look down at the plate on the floor; decorated in an enticing selection of breakfast foods. I peek to the left, to the right, and then down again. Obviously they left it for someone. It probably wasn't me, but Alaric would survive. I lean down, pick up the plate, and turn around --- nudging the door closed with my hips. I would feast like the Almighty Queen of the Jungle this morning. I would eat, like I was not a Leopard, but a Lioness.

Liyun's Point Of View

I hear the door close, and I poke my head across the corner, biting down on my bottom lip. The plate is gone, and I instantly know she received my Thanks for yesterdays mishap.

Smiling, I swivel on my old, rustic orange flats, and skip down the hall and away from the Alpha's Mate.
