I awoke to the annoying sound of my never ending alarm clock that I was tempted to throw out the window.
I stood and yawned, stretching my arms out feeling relaxed from the cold air that came in through my window last night.
I looked outside to see another cloudy, overcast day and sighed. It was a good sigh though, because I love this weather. Sweater weather.
I then ran to my record player and popped in an Eagles record and happily sang along to it while I made my bed and fixed my hair.
People always wondered how I could be so happy in the mornings and I couldn't really tell you the answer.
I made it to the third song on the record, when my loud singing stopped abruptly as I gazed down at the red dress in a heap on my floor, my heels next to it.
That's when everything that happened yesterday actually came back to me.
"Oh my fluffing God," I said quite loudly. I wish I hadn't remembered any of that now. I stood back up, determined to push away the dark thoughts I was having and find some clothes to wear for school.
I decided on my black skinny jeans, a grey, loose fitting knit sweater and my grey ankle boots. I had my long hair twisted into a bun and I hopped downstairs after turning off my record player.
The smell of pancakes slowly made its way into my sinuses and I smiled happily.
I walked into the kitchen to see Caden leaning over the stove flipping a pancake. He was dressed and ready to go.
"Morning." He hummed pleasantly.
I threw myself onto one of the chairs at the counter and laid across it, still feeling tired. He served me a pancake which I ate pretty fast, then I bolted to my bathroom and brushed my teeth, you know the basics.
I grabbed my backpack and keys and I was out the door and starting up Herby.
I drove down town, the song "Lose It" by Oh Wonder was playing from my radio and I hummed along with it. It made me think of memories I had from previous summers. Amelie had loved this song, I remember her forcing me to listen to it all the time.
I was on my way to pick up Mason for school, it was kind of a basic thing we did. Sometimes he picked me up, sometimes I picked him up.
Before I knew it, I was loudly yelling along with the lyrics and I got some stares that I just brushed off.
I pulled into Masons drive way and he ran out the front door and jumped in the passenger seat.
"I don't think your neighbors like my singing," I said and put on a sad face.
He laughed. "I don't think anyone likes your singing, Rin." I smacked his shoulder and pulled out, taking us to hell itself.
Mason was flipping through channels before finding something he liked. It's always a good sign when he does stuff like that, as annoying as it is it means he's actually still aware of his surroundings. He must have been able to sleep again.
He started humming along to one of the songs and I started yelling the lyrics again and turned the volume all the way up.
Pretty soon we pulled into the school parking lot, both of us screaming the songs along with my windows down and the looks people gave us are priceless.
This is why I love Mason. He doesn't care what people think if he's having a good time.
We got out of the car, ready to walk to our first class after I went to my locker. He had P.E though and I had science so we had to go separate ways when the bell rang.
