Chapter 18.

Cade felt like the wind had been kicked out of him when they told him what happened they had wanted to speak with Katelyn themselves but he said he would tell her everything and she'd come by the station in the morning which they said was just fine, he was glade he talked them out of speaking with Katelyn for the moment more due to the fact that Brains was on the sofa and they would of seen him if they had come inside he sighed when he shut the door how the hell was he going to tell Katelyn this, he ran a hand through his hair and made his way up the stairs it took longer than normal and he just stood at her door for a while trying to think of how to get thing's started he had to blink back a few tears himself it had been clear how close her and Katelyn were and now her friend was just gone from what they said it was mugging gone wrong he sighed and rose his hand to knock when it opened and he was face to face with her.

"Cade..what's wrong?" she asked.

"Katelyn...i had just had some people come to the door" he said.

"at this hour?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.

"yeah that's what i thought when i opened the door" he said kicking himself for not just coming out and say it.

"so..who was it Cade?" she asked.

"....."

"Cade" Katelyn said looking at him.

"it was the police Katelyn" he said trying to keep his voice from cracking.

"why were they here?" she asked though she could feel her guts twist begging herself that her bad feelings from earlier were wrong.

"....it's Amanda Katelyn...." Cade said.

It truly felt like the wind had been kicked out of her and it was rather hard to breath and her stomach twisted so much that she thought she was going to be sick, but that had't stopped her from going back into her room changing into some clothes and rushing down stairs grabbing her shoes the whole time with Cade behind her asking where she was going well she was't going to waist any time here if the police wanted to speak with her also she was't going to break down in front of Cade or anyone for that matter and even though did't mean to she slammed the door in Cade's face knowing she would say sorry for it later but the whole time she walked she could't stop telling herself this was her fault with each step also something was't right Amanda was a solider she knew how to protect herself and would't die at the hands of a mugger so there was only one other reason that this happened someone had gotten to her someone Bishop must of sent which meant Duke and Matt might meet the same end no! she shook her head forcing herself to believe that they would be ok they had to be.

Instead of just walking she ended up running the rest of the way she was't sure why but something told her that it kept her tears at bay because if she stopped then she would just break down and sob her heart out and she wanted to keep it together so when she finally reached town it did't take her long to reach the police station though they were shocked to see her at first but understood when she said she just wanted to get this done and not drag it out they lead her to one of the room's first just to ask some questions which she answered though when she told them that Amanda was a solider and she used to be one they looked a bit shocked when they said that her body showed no signs that she fought her attacker that's when she fell quiet so it was't mugging it had to be one of Bishop's people maybe someone she knew she snapped out of her thoughts when they asked if she was alright, she had to bite her tongue when they asked that of course she was't alright her, friend had just been killed and it was her fault but she gave a weak smile saying she would be fine after a few more questions they took her to see Amanda this was were she could feel her heart jump to her throat and her eye's stung like hell but she fought to keep together but how much longer she could do that was anyone's guess.
