A month later...
Charlie's POV
So here we are in court again going through the same old stuff. I can't believe I have to see Aisha old ugly-looking ass. I wish I could beat her ass. I don't have to walk in crutches anymore. My leg, my ribs, and my eye all have healed completely. I still have a scar that will scar me for life. I decided I'm gonna get a tattoo to cover my scars but it won't cover my pain that I feel. After what happened last month, the pain and the memories never goes away. I'm still having nightmares and so is my daughter. She's three years old. I'm sure she'll forget about what happened one day.
Bailiff's POV
"All rise for Judge Wallace McCormick! "
(Everyone stood up and the Judge sits down)
"Everyone please be seated!"
(Everyone sits down)
"Court is in session. This is Case number 2340 Thomas Versus Gibson."
Judge McCormick's POV
"Who will be defending the plaintiffs?"
"I'll will" said Attorney Martin Dean.
"Who are your plaintiffs?" asked Judge.
"Charles Gibson and Samantha Carter." said A. Martin Dean.
"Please allow your first witness to the stand." said the Judge.
"Will Charles Gibson please take the stand?" said A. Martin Dean.
I walked up to the stand and sat down. The Bailiff asked me Will you tell the truth and nothing but the truth so help you God?" I said, "Yes."
"Mr. Gibson. Please tell us in your own words what happened on July, 24th, 2017." said A Martin Dean.
I told my side of the story and I was asked some questions. I answered them truthfully. Then it was Sam's turn. She told her side and shed a few tears. Aisha decided not to take the stand because she didn't want to say anything. The Judge called a recess and he said he'll be back with a verdict from the Jury. Two hours later, we were called into court. The Judge walked into the room and sat down in his chair.
"Will the defendant please rise?" said the Judge.
Charles POV
Aisha stood up and showed no remorse for what she's done. She stood there with a smirk on her face. I wished I could slap the smirk of her damn face. I saw Darius and Jay, the guys who beat me up. They showed no remorse either.
"Miss Aisha Thomas? How do you plead?" asked the Judge.
"Not Guilty." said Aisha.
"Mr. Darius Carter. How do you plead? asked the Judge.
"Not Guilty."
Mr. Jay Adams. How do you plead? asked the Judge.
"Not Guilty."
"Will the Jury read the verdict? said the Judge.
"Aisha Thomas, Guilty. Darius Carter, Guilty, and Jay Adams, Guilty.
"Tomorrow, each of you will be given your sentencing. This case will resume tomorrow at 11am.
The next day, we returned to the courtroom and sat in our seats.
Bailiff's POV
"All Rise for Judge McCormick!"
Everyone stood up
"You maybe seated. Court is now in session.
Everyone sat down.
Judge's POV
I've thought long and hard about how I was going to sentence these defendants. I've made my decision today. So will the defendants please rise?
"Aisha Thomas, you will be sentenced to life without parole."
"Darius Carter, you will be sentenced to thirty years."
"Jay Adams, you will be sentenced to twenty-five years."
"I hereby this case dismissed."
We applauded and watched the officers take the criminals away. We celebrated by going out for lunch and spent the rest the day with family. I'm glad this is all over.
