The Ball

When we got there, I told Cinderella to go in and was surprised to find myself in an elegant royal deep violet dress with a poof. The sleeves and necklace were lined with gold detailing and my pale orange hair was curled and pinned up with a matching gold pin. My slippers were clear with a delicate purple tint and silk gloves covered my small hands.

By the time I had gotten inside, the prince had already started dancing with the blushing maiden. I smiled and suddenly bumped into someone. The blonde-haired man, probably around twenty, smiled at me with a grin.

"May I have this dance?" he asked me. I nodded politely and took his hand. One dance couldn't hurt.

The time passed faster than I had previously thought. I danced the night away, careful not to tell him any of my information, even my name. I gasped when I heard heels clop on the floor and saw Cinderella running. She had wanted to go home and the first scene had ended.

I yanked my hand away from the prince.

"I really must go," I told him. He looked at me in confusion.

"But I don't even know your name." I gave him an apologetic smile and ran away before he could say a word. I couldn't tell him my name, I thought. Especially when this wasn't even my world. The conflict had officially began.

Cinderella couldn't stop smiling that night. Even when her evil step-sisters came home, she was still smiling.

"That was the most magical night I have ever experienced," Cinderella sighed. I bit my lip, thinking about the blonde-haired man whose attention I had caught. There would be another festival tonight and the safest option would be to stay outside the palace and wait for Cinderella so I wouldn't mess up the story.

That night, Cinderella was dressed in fine gold and silver with an even more magnificent gown that seemed to sparkle and shine. I rode with her to the palace, but decided to stay by the entrance and wait.

I couldn't help but beam when Cinderella danced with her prince again, who held nothing in his eyes but love as he swept her off her feet. I gasped when I saw the familiar blonde man and stood out of sight. I cocked my head in confusion when I saw his clothing. It looked much like what the prince was wearing. Could he be another prince? But I never heard of Prince Charming having a brother.

Careful not to draw any attention, I stood at the steps of the palace and sat, waiting. It would still be an hour before Cinderella left again. Laying on the step in silence, I felt exhaustion clothe me and closed my eyes.

When I woke up, I was surprised to find myself warm and comfortable. However, when I opened my eyes, I was looking right into the emerald green orbs of a familiar face. Gasping, I shot up.

"I'm sorry if I woke you," he smiled gently. "I'm Prince Thomas."

I looked around me and noticed that I was in a deep red ball gown. I frowned, not understanding how I got into this situation.

"I found you sleeping on the steps of the palace," the prince explained. "You looked cold and lonely. I figured you could use the company."

I cleared my voice as I tried to speak as elegantly as the rest of the characters in this fairy tale spoke.

"Thank you for your aquaintance," I responded. "It was deeply appreciated."

He took my hand, but jumped when we saw a flash run beside us. Oh no! It was Cinderella!

"I must leave," I fretted, standing up and fleeing the palace, away from the mysterious and confused prince.

Back at the house, Cinderella went on again about how that was the best ball she had gone to. Only one more ball, I thought. Before the story can end and I can leave.

Sighing, this time I let the magic clothe me in a deep blue gown, much like Cinderella's. Both of our hair was pinned up as well. I let the book take its course and even danced with Prince Thomas, who still insisted on knowing my name. Again I refused. When it was time for Cinderella to flee, I followed suite. I was almost down the steps when I felt my feet stop moving. Looking down, I groaned in frustration. My foot was stuck in pitch.

"I'll help you," Cinderella said, who was also stuck in the same pitch. She had already lost her slipper and was now helping me out of mine. Cinderella grabbed my hand and together we ran away from the palace. It was only after we got home when I realized one of my shoes was missing as well.

I woke up to the sound of a doorbell ringing. Creeping down, I saw that Cinderella was gone and locked in her room by the evil stepmother.

"We can find a way to get out," I promised. Taking her sheets, we created a man-made rope out of it and slid down to the ground. I let Cinderella open the door and give the stepmother a scare. I smiled when I creeped to the side of the house and heard the carriage leave. It was over.

I waited for the watch to spin, but nothing came. The fairytale was complete. Why did I have to stay? I didn't even know why I ended up here in the first place. I climbed up back into Cinderella's room and was surprised when I heard the lock turn and the door open. I stood face to face with Prince Charming. He smiled at me and held the glass slipper to my foot.

"Please try it on," he whispered to me. I slid my shoe in and to my surprise, it was a perfect fit. What was happening? Thhe prince kissed my hand and let me out the door.

"Now we will go to my palace, where we shall get married as soon as we can," the prince smiled. I was led into a carriage. What was happening? Why was I here instead? And the most important question, where was Cinderella?
