Looking at the prince, I took his outstretched hand and stepped out of the carriage.
"I'm so happy that I found you," Prince Charming sighed. I plastered a smile onto my face before looking up at the palace. It really was a magnificent chiseled marble structure.
Prince Charming saw me eyeing it, his grin growing bigger. I snapped out of my trance as we walked towards the entrance. It should be Cinderella here right now, I thought. Where was she?
"The duke will be happy to show you to your room," The Prince told me. He kissed my hand before heading off.
"Right this way miss," a tall and lanky man directed. It was like his back was broken, for he never stood with his back straight up. He had long black hair and a huge mustache. What was unique was the monacle with a chain attached that was held by his hand.
He opened a door and led me in the room.
"Dinner is at 6. You may explore the castle until then," he informed before closing the door to give me space.
I looked around the room, wide-eyed. It was a gorgeous cream color with oakwood flooring and a tall ceiling with a chandelier dangling below. The canopy bed was king-sized with a curtain draped against all four sides. There was a vanity, walk-in closet, and even a changing rack.
I heard a familiar voice and peeked out the door to see Cinderella humming away.
"Cinderella!" I called. She turned and smiled brightly.
"Hello again my dear friend," Cinderella greeted, giving me a hug. "Did you find a prince as well?"
I nodded, confused but relieved that she was here.
"Prince Thomas is the warmest person in the world," Cinderella gushed. Prince Thomas? I thought.
"Oh his corn-blonde hair and emerald green eyes shine like diamonds," she continued. Oh no! I gasped. She couldn't have meant...
Just as I feared, the prince walked right beside Cinderella, giving her a kiss on the cheek. It had been the the prince that I had danced with!
"To think, my brother found love with your best friend," Thomas spoke. The princes had accidentally switched us and only I knew?!
"I should be off to my room," I told the happy couple, before almost slamming my door shut.
I sighed and turned around to see a familiar old face.
"Aldus," I breathed. "Could you please explain this?"
Aldus sighed, before starting. "The owner of that book is the one who will save them all."
"What?"
"It's a prophecy. A prophecy that promised one day someone would save these fairytales."
"I don't understand a word you just said," I responded, frustrated.
"You were destined to come into the fairytales, live them out, and save them from destruction. Let me start from the beginning."
"A woman who read these tales was obsessed with them. She wanted to create a world so that she could have a happily ever after. The witch casted a spell upon the book and the watch, using them to jump into the fantasy world. However, there's always a price for magic. Although she could live them, she would never be able to have the character's fairytale ending. The princesses were destined to have the same ending, no matter what. The witch was forced to watch all the tales play out. When she got back to our world, she was determined never to let them have a happy ending. The witch has created a portal to a new world, where the princesses will be captured and locked in that realm never to have their happy ending while the witch can turn herself into that character and live them out herself."
"That sounds awful!" I cried.
"Indeed it is. She even dragged her son into it. The witch added her son into the story to lure the princesses away from their prince and trick them into joining her dreadful realm that she created. She casted a spell so he wouldn't remember his life in our world and made it so that he played a part in each fairytale, not even knowing he comes from our realm and believing that he's part of the story. He doesn't even know that he's in a story! He's exactly like a character you would find in the book, except he's truly not."
"Who is he?"
"In this fairytale, he's Prince Thomas. In the real world, his name is Hunter."
"And who is the witch? Is she here?"
"She also incorporated herself into each story. As the villian. In this fairytale, she's the Stepmother. In the real world, she goes by the name Morgana. After her mother's favorite evil villian in the show 'Merlin'."
"Now she's here to lure Cinderella. The switcharoo wasn't your fault, you just made it a little easier to do without suspicion. Morgana doesn't know you're the hero in these fairytales, so make the story right and stop her."
"Let me have a moment to take in this information!" I screeched, flopping on the bed.
"Don't you see Mina? There's no time. Her plan has already been put in place," Aldus urged.
"Why is there so much pressure put on the heroine in every story?" I grumbled to myself, laying face-first into my pillow.
