"Do you want to do something today?" George asked me, and I raised my eyebrows at him.
"What? It's 12 at night! Where would we even go?" I asked, and he shrugged.
"Let's go wherever life takes us," George said, and we walked out of the door. We hopped onto the nearest subway and rode all through London. It was very fun, we just sat alone on the subway for a while, but at some point a man got on that was homeless. George stood up and gave him a few hundred dollars.
"Things may be bad now, but it'll get better. I promise," George said, and the man had tears in his eyes. George came back to sit with me and I sat on his lap facing him. I kissed him, and he put his hands on my thighs.
"That was amazing," I told him, and he smiled at me.
"It's what anyone would've done,"George said, and I shook my head.
"I wouldn't have thought of doing that," I said, and he kissed my cheek.
"I'm sure you would've done the same, doll," he said. I was going to argue back, but every time he calls me doll I want to swoon. He held me closer to his chest until we got to a certain stop and he told me to get off with him.
"Where are we?" I asked, and he just told me to follow him, "George! You know I don't like surprises!" I complained, but he would tell me anything. Suddenly we came to a fence and he began to climb it and jumped down.
"Come on, Rose," he beckoned, and I hesitantly began to climb. I still didn't know where we were or what we were doing but I felt like it would ruin the moment to ask, so I just did what I was told. I was swinging my feet over the top when I fell and he caught me bridal style.
"I would never let you fall," George practically whispered to me, and I looked into his eyes. He kissed me for a bit before setting me on my feet.
"Thank you," I whispered, and he didn't respond. I took a look at where we were and saw that there was a Ferris wheel and bumper cars, but everything was off. We were at the fair.
"Are we supposed to be here?" I asked, and George shrugged.
"Probably not," he said, and I rolled my eyes, but we walked around the grounds anyways. It was a bit spooky, so I stayed right by George.
"Are you ready?" He asked, and I nodded. We had fun there, but I was sleepy. We got back on the subway and I fell asleep on his chest. When we got to our stop, he picked me up and I woke up groggily.
"I'll walk," I said, and he continued walking with ease.
"Just go back to sleep, doll," he said, and I nuzzled into his chest. When we got home, he set me on the bed and then walked right outside the door. He began to talk to someone on the phone. I sat up, and he continued to talk.
"George? Who is that?" I asked tiredly. He abruptly hung up the phone and looked at me in the moonlight shining through the window.
"No one, doll. Go back to sleep," he said, but I furrowed my eyebrows in the darkness.
"Why are you keeping things from me?" I asked, and it seemed as if the question made him uncomfortable.
"I'm not," he answered simply, but I wasn't giving up that quickly.
"Then who was that?" I asked, waiting for the truth.
"I-I can't tell you," he said, and he looked at the ground as he said this.
"George? Are you- are you seeing someone else?" I asked, and I felt my heart drop just saying it. I didn't think George would do that to me, but I also didn't think he would keep things from me.
"No, I swear! I just can't tell you right now," he said, and I felt tears run down my cheeks.
"You knew what George? I don't need you! I never needed you!" I yelled, and I stood up and ran past him and down the stairs. He began to chase me and put his hand on my shoulder, but I pulled out of his grasp.
"Wait! I just-!" He started, but I cut him off.
"Save it, George. It's through! I'm through!" I yelled, and with that ran through the front door, slamming it behind me. I went to the only place I could think to go at a time like this.
