When I woke up, I was in a hospital bed. I looked around to see George sleeping on the chair next to me.
"George?" I asked sleepily, and he sat up slowly.
"Rose, you're awake," he said happily, and I nodded. I tried to move my arm to see an I.V. attached to it.
"What happened?" I asked groggily, and he reached out to hold my hand in his.
"You passed out, doll," he said, and it all came rushing back to me. The almost wedding, the fainting.
"Oh," I simply said, and I squeezed his hand reassuringly. He squeezed mine back, and gave me a weak smile.
"Excuse me, an I interrupting? We have results from the blood test," a nurse came in and said politely. I sat up a bit to hear her out.
"Oh, yes. Okay, can you give us any news?" George asked, sounding concerned. His worry over me was very cute.
"Sure, Mrs. Rose, you might want George to step out for this," she said, and he stood up and walked towards the door, giving me one last look before he left.
"Continue," I said, worried that I had some fatal disease. She looked at her clipboard and readjusted her glasses before looking back at me and smiling.
"Well our charts say your boyfriend has noticed some light nausea and passing out and dizziness, correct?" She asked, and I nodded. I wasn't aware that George had noticed that, I had barely noticed it myself.
"Well, I guess so," I said, and she marked some things down on her paper. She asked me questions about my allergies and my birthdate and my health care plan.
"Okay, well we sent some blood to the lab and got results," she started slowly, and I nodded for her to continue, "the lab results say that you are pregnant. Congratulations," she announced, and I felt my heart drop.
"I don't understand?" I questioned, and she looked confused, "I mean, we've been careful and that can't be possible, check again," I demanded, but she shook her head.
"I'm sorry, but that's not necessary. It's over 99% correct. You might want to start looking at plans on what to do once you've actually had the baby, these things happen quickly, you know," she warned, and I shook my head. I really didn't hear anything she said, I was still in shock. And then there was the big question. It was George's, right?
"How far along am I?" I asked quickly, interrupting whatever she had been saying before. She checked her papers before responding.
"About three weeks," she responded, I exhaled, it was George's, thankfully. My one night fling with john had been three months ago, and I was thankful that at least it was George's.
