Adapting To Changes

The days were endless, my life was to sit in the hospital room next to Kagari's bed and waiting for him to recover soon. He was really very hurt.

Life changed radically for all people. They didn't know how to survive without the sybil system, but everyone already knew the truth and also didn't want to live in such a world, so all they did was adapt as we always did. That's how humans are.

The isolation facilities were closed and the prisoners were released there. Everything was perfect for a moment, but the crime increased radically.

Luckily the Public Security Bureau was there, now they were simple detectives. We returned to use fire guns. With this method the crime descended again, since the jail is worse than the isolation facility.

The criminals are now treated for their crimes and not a number of crime ratio.

The enforcers were free, everyone stayed to help people. Of course they could have their own home, they stopped living in the Public Security Bureau and some of them became leaders of the research groups.

Kougami and Akane in a Division, Masaoka and Gino in another Division, including Kunizuka, but she wanted to stay without being a boss, also returned to the music career.

Shion left the PSB, I didn't think she belonged here. She has a medical degree so she took advantage of it and now she's a doctor...and she's still with Yayoi.

I was also offered a position as head of a division of course I accepted, but I don't know what will Kagari choose.

Yui and Hokuto are now two normal teenagers. They finished school and went to college, they both look very happy and I still see them.

I went out to clear myself for a while from the hospital room, I was there for too long. It was a Sunday, so I didn't expect to find anyone in the offices but...

"Tachibana, what are you doing?"

"Oohh Kogami. I just took off for a while. What are you doing here?" I asked curiously.

"I'm moving. I came to collect my things." - he said happily. It was one of the few times I saw him with a smile.

"I have to thank you." - he told me -"You gave me back my life, you gave me back my freedom, Tachibana. That's a lot for a hound dog like me."

"You don't have to thank me at all, I think we'll all be better like this. Mmm...have you thought about getting a partner?" - I asked with a smile

"Partner? What do you mean?"

"It's a expression, Kogami. I mean a couple, a girlfriend. Maybe someone from your job..."

"Who?"

"Akane! Idiot!" - I yelled

"Inspector Tsunemori?"

"Well, technically, she's no longer an inspector, but...yes."

"I don't know." - he said grabbing his neck and turning red

"Just...do what makes you happy. After all you're not going to live like a solitary hermit your whole life." - I said with a small laugh

"We'll see." - he answered with a smile

"What about you?" The love you have for Kagari is so big, as is his love for you."

"Cute, right?"

"Yeah, well Tachibana, I have to go. Once again thanks for everything." - he said at last and left the Public Security Office.

I went back to the hospital room and as I walked in the door, I saw the orange-haired boy awake and sit on the bed. I ran towards him

"Kagar!!" I shouted as I hugged him.

"Natsume...what happened?"

"We are free." - I whispered in his ear

"Free, Natsume?"

"Yes, free, take a look at your hand." - I said. He lifted his hand slowly just to end up surprised as he was no longer using the metal communicator, that chain. His brown eyes began to glow and he hugged me even harder

"Do you have the strength to go to a place?" - I asked

"Yes, I feel much better, especially after this."

"Follow me."
