I looked at Dr. Tyler as they pushed me through the hospital, I didn't want to take in my surroundings anymore then I had to but when we passed through a door I didn't have to look around to know that we had arrived. You see, when we passed through the door, the room got probably ten degrees colder. Eventually when I did take my eyes off of Dr. Tyler I started to notice everything. There were bright lights everywhere and all around me were nurses and surgeons with masks and gloves on. As I was looking around, a nurse pushed me to the side of the operating table, I rolled onto it and laid down. As soon as I laid down, so many things started to happen, I was quite overwhelmed. There was a blood pressure cuff on my arm, a little clip on my finger for my pulse, and one nurse was putting these round sticky pads on my chest and then attaching wires to them. Finally, after all that was done, Dr. Karev and Dr. Tyler came over.
"Well Abigail, are you ready to get started?" Dr. Karev asked.
"Actually, it's Abbie and yea, I guess."
"Okay well Dr. Tyler is just going to place this mask over your mouth and you're just going to breathe in and out like you normally would."
Then Dr. Tyler placed the mask over my mouth and I just laid there breathing in and out. After a few minutes Dr. Tyler spoke up, "Ok Abbie I'm going to inject this medicine into your IV and you will fall asleep almost instantly."
"Actually, could I push it in? Is that allowed?"
He gave me a surprised look and said, "I don't see why not. I'll hook it up to your IV and all you need to do is just push it in. But I have yet to see one person be able to push it all in before falling asleep. It's that quick."
Then Dr. Tyler hooked the syringe up onto my IV and hands it to me.
"You usually have about 10-15 seconds before you pass out if you get through all the medicine."
I grabbed the syringe and started pushing the medicine into my own body. I got about half way through the medicine and started to get dizzy but I kept pushing it through. When I finally got to the last of the medicine, I laid back down and as I was getting close to closing my eyes, I heard Dr. Karev say, "Great job Abbie. Now could count back from 10 for me?"
"10, 9..."
