As Dr. Karev leaves, my mother walks in with coffee in hand saying, "Oh honey you're awake! I left for just a few minutes to get something to drink and I totally missed you waking up. I'm sorry honey, but how are you feeling?"
"I'm a little sore but other than that I feel fine. When can I leave?"
"Some time later today I suppose."
A couple hours later, Dr. Karev comes in the room and says, "Well Abigail looks to be recovering quit nicely so if you could just give these discharge papers to the nurse up front, you're free to go. I'll have a nurse come in to take her IV out as well."
Then he smiles and walks away. Immediately a nurse comes in and proceeds to take the IV out. It didn't take more than a few minutes and after that my mom and I were on our way. We got into the car and headed home.
When we reached home, my twin sister and dad were waiting for us. As soon as we had parked the car, my sister, Emily, walks over to me and helps me make my way into the house and up to our room. I laid on my bed and I was just so worn out from everything. Emily speaks first, "So how did the surgery go? Did you see any cute doctors?"
"The surgery was fine I guess. I'm told I'll be sore a week or two. And I wasn't really looking for cute doctors but I'll keep my eye out next time," I say with a chuckle, "How did you dance competition go?"
See my sister, since she could walk, has been in dance all her life and this weekend was a big one for her because it was the qualifying round for the Youth America Grand Prix Competition which is basically one of the biggest dance competitions.
"The competition went great! I got 3rd in the qualifying which means I go onto the regionals in a couple weeks which are going to be held in New York! I have to perform a contemporary piece and a classical piece."
"That's great Emily! I'm so proud of you. So, have you decided what classes your going to take this year at Nashville School of the Arts?"
"I think I'm going to try and take Advanced Ballet, Advanced Jazz, Advanced Contemporary, English honors, Calculus, AP French and Environmental Science. What classes are you going to take?"
"I'm supposed to take AP Calculus, Anatomy and Physiology, AP English, Economics/Government, Advanced Theatre, and Spanish IV"
A few weeks later school starts back up and boy was it nerve racking for me. I was a senior in high school. This year was going to be different, I was going to have to start applying to colleges. I woke up that first day with the biggest intent on making an impression. Emily and I woke up at about the same time for school. While she curled her hair and put on makeup and was looking all artsy and preppy with a quarter length sleeve pink chevron dress and black flats. I was wearing jean capris and a navy-blue crop top that had little white stars all over it with my blue Chacos and although we may have woken up at the same time, I was able to get ready a lot quicker than Emily was, all I had to do was get dressed, straighten my hair, and eat. By 7:25 I was out the door for school. When I arrived at Hillwood High School, the first thing I did was look for my friends. As I was looking around, someone taps me on the shoulder. I turn around and see a couple of my friends, Caroline, Matthew, and Zac.
