The sound of silence
Louder than a scream
Shattered glass replays
Its ghost twinkle
Scattered on the floorThe sound of silence
Is my mother
Hand clamped over her mouth
To quiet her cries
She can't let him hear
Can't let him-The sound of silence convulses
A drunk shaking
On a ruined bed
Screaming curses only he can hear
To the demons dancing down his throatAnd he forgets what it means to be father
The sound of silence screams
Echoing to the attic beams
Shaking a house
Once
Called
HomeThe sound of silence fills up
Heavier than a thousand
Curled fists
Sink through the floor
Drag out the door
Fall into a fresh snow hole made for too much noiseAnd
it's
so
warm
Eyes close
Icy flakes tickle soft pink skin
Blood slows down its frantic raceA passing thought to cross a going mind
Frost doesn't bite, instead bleeds forgiveness
