Surviving Iris

Blake's POV

"It's time for you to meet my friend and sister, Iris. Not many are approved by her and she is overprotective as I am to her." I raise an eyebrow at X's nervous posture, grabbing hold of his hand to give him comfort. The bell rings just as free period begins, we make our way to an open picnic table where the two of us danced yesterday. Iris gives a wave to X, looking over to me with narrowed eyes. X squeezes my hand for comfort as we sit by her, keeping my mate between the two of us.

"You two are evil. If I die, I'm haunting your asses." He groans out, putting his bag next to mine on the ground with his lunch in hand. Iris gives a chuckle at that, swatting his hand away from her apple. I grab mine and start eating a simple roast beef sandwich with a peach and water. I eye X's lunch that has, from the smell and looks, homemade jambalaya with lobster and shrimp along with a water and a piece of key lime pie with a banana. "Not sharing love, but nice try. Whatever's left over I'll split with you two. No fighting or playing dirty to get it either." I retract my hand from the pie, resting it on his thighs as I lower it and knead him.

"I don't need to play dirty to get it. I already had it and deliciously enjoyed it." X blushes as Iris laughs, mocking him. I end up joining in on the laughter as X grumbles under his breath, leaving my hand where its at as I grab onto his hand, shocked at the hand grabbing my free one and pulling. I don't budge an inch, but the disgusting scent washes over me as I focus on X's. "Leave us alone Elizabeth. I don't care if you told my parents, it's my last year here and I've found my mate. It's not you." I bury my head in his free shoulder, inhaling his scent as I kiss his neck lightly. He just holds me tighter as she speaks up, annoyed.

"Remember what happened when you disobeyed them a few years ago? It will happen again." I freeze up, anger coursing through my veins as I rip my hand away from hers and glare at her. X holds me back, arms wrapped around me as I snap at her, shaking to face her head on.

"You have no right to speak of that! You're the poison that ruined them, especially mother. Corrupted her mind. I will never marry you or be with you." Lips touch my cheek and peck the corner of my lips, eliciting a smile as I relax, turning to kiss him fully, grinning at the blush I receive. Ignoring Elizabeth's scream of protest as she stomps away, we go back to talking and our meals, avoiding the obvious subject.

"Talk to me when you're ready. I'll be waiting for as long as it takes." Lips press against my ear as the soft whisper makes me shiver. "Well, Iris. What do you want to know?" Confused, I glance to see my mate very nervous. I take his hand and rub circles on it soothingly. I keep my eyes on him as I slowly move his hand to press against my crotch, pressing down. His eyes snap to me from Iris as I tease him, smiling shyly. I feel his hand move hesitantly, grasping what he can and jerk in slow strokes. My face feels on fire right now. I blush more as he looks away with a cherry red face, lacing his finger with mine with shy smile of his own.

"You two are adorable together. He's not acting like a jackass or putting up a front so he's golden. You hurt him even a little and you're dead." I nod to Iris, a bit pale as I put my head on his shoulder, relief flooding me. "He's a good catch and I can tell you're already smitten with him. I'm going to finish my lunch in peace without barfing at you two all over each other. See you later at Pierce's Pain X." She winks at us as she leaves, smirking.

"I forget why I am friends with her." X groans as he fiddles with my free hand, lost in thought. "You love me that's why!" I chuckle as he backwards flips her off, wrapping an arm around his waist as we eat in comfortable silence. Pretty soon free period and school is over as we part ways with a long kiss.

"Be ready at 7:30 sharp. I'll pick you up at your house or my apartment if you want." I pause, uncertainty in my voice as I answer.

"Your apartment would be perfect. My mother has been pressuring me to reveal who my mate is since they've captured all my attention." I blush at what I stated, uncertain of what my mother was trying to accomplish. Almost as if sensing my fear, he holds me close, murmuring in my ear. "Everything will work out love. Don't let your mother or anyone make you doubt us. I'm here for the long haul, even if I have to handcuff us together." A chuckle escapes me as I lead him over to the willow tree from yesterday.
