Larkkit awoke to muffled whispers outside the den. "Should we keep him?" said one voice. "He's delusional" cried another. He let out a sad whimper. "Hush hush I hear something." Muttered the first voice. There was a shuffling of paws and then silence. Larkkit looked up at Mintfur, who was still sleeping. He smiled before quietly getting  up and exiting the den. There was no sign of the cats who were insulting him. Larkkit let out a sigh of relief. He didn't want to run into them.

He padded around camp, examining it. He peered through dens and inhaled the scents. Trees towered over him. His stomach growled so he padded over to the fresh kill pile. "Hey hey hey kit. What have you done to deserve a meal?" said a meow from behind him. "Who are you? Who's there?" Larkkit asked, spinning around.

There was no cat there. "Guess again kitty" snarled the voice. Larkkit looked up to see a lithe grey cat standing beside him. There were no stars in his fur but he didn't seem to be alive. "Where'd you come from?" The kit squealed, backing away."You couldn't even imagine." The bigger tom hissed. His eyes were a piercing yellow, shadowed with blankets of darkness. It seemed as though Larkkit was peering into the eyes of death.

"What do you want with me?" Larkkit meowed defiantly. The grey tom chuckled. "Look kid. I need payback. Which means you're going to pay." Larkkit was suddenly pinned, sharp claws gripped around his neck. "H-help!" the kit choked out. He tried to swipe at the ghostly cat's legs but his tiny paws simply passes through them. "Wha?' Larkkit muttered. This cat really did seem to be a ghost. "Remember me in your nightmares kid." The older cat hissed, raising a giant, gleaming claw. Then there was a voice. "Larkkit?" It called. Mintfur!

"Out here!" Larkkit screeched. The cat let out an annoyed growl. "Alright kid, you win this time. But if you tell anyone about this," He paused, releasing his grip. "I'll be back sooner than you think. This won't be the last you see of Flint." And just like that, the tom seemed to disappear into thin air, leaving only a trace of black smoke. Then Larkkit's foster mother appeared. "What's wrong sweetie?" She meowed, peering down at her son. "I heard you call, you sounded distressed."

The tomkit shook his head. "I-it's nothing. I thought I saw something." He murmured, staring at the ground. Mintfur smiled. "Alright then. Are you hungry?" Larkkit sighed. "No..." He had lost his appetite. "Okay well I'll be over there eating. Feel free to join me!" She replied, padding away. Larkkit stayed where he was, digging his claws into the earth. He was still processing Flint. Who was this evil cat and how dare he try to kill such an innocent kitten?

Larkkit had never been more confused. He felt like he should let someone know, but who? Lizardstar? Mintfur? His stomach growled and he remembered that he never got his prey. But Larkkit couldn't bring himself to go get food. The mere thought made him sick. He walked back toward the nursery, his mind wandering. Larkkit lay down, his head aching. He'd have to save this mystery for another day.
