My small social group has gathered at the small local bar near the school, where it was told they had the best food. The chatter had been constant and shooting from one end of the table to the other and every now and then the topic would change completely. But it was all you needed after a weeklong of exams and papers due.

"Gosh, I'm exhausted." I exclaimed as another round of drinks were ordered.

"Still a long run to go, Smith." Jessica commented, eyeing me off yet still managing to send Sam her innocent puppy dog eyes and smile.

"Thanks, for the reminder, Jessica." I said sarcasm rolling off my tongue.

"Jess in fine." She smiled as Sam's eyes wondered away from his current conversation to her. My mind cringed at the thought of those two as a thing.

After a while I reached for my little blackberry from my messenger bag, hitting the centre button causing the screen to light up and reveal that it was 10pm. Silently slipping my phone back into its home I slid myself out from the booth and stood in my spot.

"It's time I head off." I said as I slid my khaki messenger bag over my shoulder grasping its tan strap.

"But, it's only ten." Brady pointed out as if I hadn't noticed.

"Thanks for that, Brady." I started turning my attention to the two sending mix signals to each other in the corner. "Sam," I announced not sure if I had caught his attention. "I'll leaving the keys in the usual spot." I said, and I most defiantly did not get his attention as his eyes were still locked on her.

Jessica

"Later!" Zac's' little sister called as I made my way to the exit with my mind elsewhere already.

Finally, making it back to the apartment I dropped my belonging at the front door, bag included, before I made my way to the couch where I would spend the rest of the night.

I woke the next morning to the sound of laughter and with a pain in my neck that was followed by a weight laying on top of me. Frowning as I pushed the blanket that appeared from nowhere off me, I pulled myself up flinging my hand up to the side of my neck where the pain was radiating from. Making my way across the room and into the kitchen where the noise was coming from. I saw Sam at the small dinner table and Jessica in one of his shirts on the other side of the bench making coffee and giggling for no reason. Or what appeared to be no reason.

"Morning, Sleeping Beauty." Sam teased when he spotted me in the door way still wearing last night's outfit. My eyes darted from him to her and then back to him in almost a dazed state.

"Got something to share?" I asked annoyance radiating from my being as I attempted to pull my hair into a low, which made me want to cry out in pain, as the pain from neck radiated further.

Sam stared back blankly at me while Jessica stared at the scene over her coffee mug.

"We're dating." She finally piped up, a smile plastered on her face.

The moment those words left her lips my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach, as my eyes began to sting with the threat of tears verging.

"Oh."
