"Your dad scares the crap out of me, you know," Alex said as he sat down on my bed.
I walked over to my mirror, looking over my make up quickly. "Wow, the first person you're scared of," I said with a chuckle, turning to look over at my boyfriend.
He smirked. "I just want him to approve of us is all..."
I walked over to him, letting one of my hands to graze his neck. "It's kind of cute," I said, leaning closer to him, but before we could kiss he then pulled away.
"Not here," he said quietly, a shy smile coming across his face. It was as if we had suddenly changed roles.
A growing smile was on my face as I said, "what? Are you scared my dad is going to catch us?"
He looked away, towards the entrance of my bedroom, and then looked to me. "Kind of," he admitted.
"You're such a wimp," I teased, sitting down beside him and leaning back against my bed frame.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," he said, gently poking my side, causing me to jump. "At least I can take being tickled."
I pouted my bottom lip out at him. It was true; Alex wasn't at all ticklish. Well, not in any places I had tried.
"Anyways," Alex spoke now, leaning forward on his knees, "I actually wanted to talk about something serious."
I feigned shock and my mouth popped open. "Oh no, something serious?!"
"Shut up," he mused, poking my side again and I let out a squeak at that.
"Okay, tell me," I said, leaning into him.
He licked his lips, looking down at his hands for a brief moment before taking my hand in his. "Stella, I take our relationship seriously, you know that, right?" he asked and I nodded my head, suddenly growing nervous. "Okay, because if I didn't take it seriously, I wouldn't ever bring this up. I actually wanted to introduce you to my mom."
I blinked, processing what he had said. Yes, I knew he had a mother, he had mentioned her before, but for some reason I never really thought about him actually living with her anymore. Silly of me to dismiss such an important detail, but it was true, nonetheless. "Y-Your mom?"
He nodded his head. "Yeah, my mom." He gazed back down at his lap, clearly nervous.
"Yeah, sounds awesome. Why are you so anxious?" I asked, leaning closer to him and rubbing my hand down his back.
He shrugged his shoulders, let out a nervous chuckle. "I just...really want you guys to get along. I've never introduced a girl to my mom before, despite her nagging me to find a girl all the time."
I raised an eyebrow. "Does she know about me?"
Alex nodded his head. "Yeah, she knows about you. Even before I officially met you, she knew I had a, uh, crush on you." He rubbed the back of his neck, growing embarrassed.
I let out a giggle. "Yeah? Well, I'm excited to meet her. I take it you guys are close?"
He nodded his head once again. "Yup," he answered. "We always have been. For along time, it was just me and her. I mean, it still is, but now you're in the picture."
"How come you never mentioned her much before?" I asked, tilting my head to the side. Although he had brought her up in the past, like when he told the story a few weeks ago, he never quite elabarated further than that.
He shrugged his shoulders. "I'm kind of protective of her. Like, a lot."
"More than me?"
"Probably just the same. Although, I don't really show it around her because she'll nag me about it. She knows I'm protective, though."
