"How'd you really break your arm, Evan?"
The question catches Evan off guard. He knew that since Connor had broken down his walls when they started dating, Evan became less and less secretive regarding how he broke his wrist.
"W-What?"
Connor glances around the orchard, sighing. "Evan, I know you didn't fall. Please tell me what happened."
Evan starts shaking his head. "No, no, no, no, you'll hate me. I know you will."
"No, I won't, Evan. I promise, darling."
"I-I just felt so alone. So alone. And I just kept climbing, and I just kept going. I didn't wanna live anymore."
"Breathe, Ev. Come on, baby. It's okay. Keep going."
Evan let's out a strangled sob. "I did it, Connor. I just let go. And it hurt so bad when I hit the ground. It hurt so bad!" Evan practically lunges at Connor, burying his face in the fabric of his boyfriend's hoodie.
"I know how you feel, Ev, you know that? I understand."
Connor rocks Evan back and forth as he cries, holding the fragile boy in his arms like a baby.
"Do you still feel that way? Do you still feel alone?"
"You're the only one who makes me feel like I have someone."

From that moment on, Connor made it his goal to have Evan feel loved. Even if it's just from him.
"Keep your eyes closed." Connor instructs Evan, pouting as he turns on the windshield wipers to rid the glass of rain.
"My eyes are closed. They have been for a long time, Con. Where are you going?" Evan whines.
"We're going somewhere secret, Ev. Patience, my love."
Connor internally groans as the Hansen household comes into view. But he sees Heidi on the porch- protected from the rain- grinning at him. She gives him a thumbs up to let him know that everything is perfect, then jumps into her car to go to work, and to leave the couple alone.
"We're going into the rain now, just to let you know. But we'll be inside in a second." Connor tells his boyfriend, jumping out of his car.
Connor leads Evan through the rain and into the Hansen household.
"And you can finally open your eyes!"
Evan's eyes snap open, then instantly fill up with tears. In his living room, is a picture perfect picnic. A wicker basket, a plaid blanket, candles, fruit, cake, everything a picnic needs.
"Oh my god, you did this for me?" Evan gasps, grinning at Connor.
"Well, actually I did this for you at the orchard. But it's pouring rain so I had to relocate."
"Th-That's okay!" Evan grins, lunging into his boyfriend's arms. "I love it. It's so sweet. And I don't care where it is. I just want to spend time with you. I love you so much."
"I love you too, Tree Boy. Forever and always, no matter what."
