After Lau got back to the house, he started to feel the guilt creep up his body again. He couldn't help but feel wrong for what he had done, but he just wasn't ready to settle down. He wasn't ready for a child of his own. He loved children, he loved seeing them at workshops and on the street. He can't help but play with their tiny faces and give them kisses. He just couldn't imagine taking care of one 24/7. He had to be Les Twins. He had to travel the world and satisfy all his fans. It wouldn't be right to leave Jess alone with HIS child. He just didn't want to be that kind of dad.
He got out the car grabbing his phone and his keys. When he made it to the door he paused again trying to keep his feelings inside. He didn't want to show his guilt. He didn't want Jess to read what he was feeling. He put the key in the door turning it with a deep breathe. He opened the door walking in shutting it behind himself. He made his way to the kitchen pouring a glass of cold water. When he turned around he saw her, just standing there, standing in the doorway with a look on her face that he had never seen before. He sat his water down smiling walking over to her. "Hey baby!", he said as he picked her up into a warm hug. He couldn't help but feel her soft skin and her curly hair around him. She hugged him back but quickly pushed away speaking sharply. "Hey Lau I missed you too, but can I ask you a question?" She took a deep breath while he sat her down softly. His heart started to beat faster as her eyes met his. Her statement cutting into him like a butcher knife into meat. His mind started to race through all the possible things she could ask him. Where were you? What's that smell? Is that perfume? He started to panic before she could even open her mouth. "Baby... Jess... I was uh...." He was stuttering. He couldn't get one clear sentence out. "Lau stop talking." She said with an edge. "I just wanted to ask you a simple question." She said with a smile. She already knew the answer to her own question ,but she wanted to see if he would lie to her again."How was your time with Larry? Did you finish your song?" She said with a sincere and curious voice. She tried to seem as believable as possible. Lau was completely shocked. "She actually believed me?" he thought to himself with a hard gut feeling. He felt like a monster. He felt like everything he tried to build with Jess was getting ruined by the minute. He didn't know how to answer the question. He was contemplating for too long. It was just a simple question right? Why was he taking such a long time to answer? He didn't realize that a lot was depending on this one question and it's answer. If he told the truth Jess would be heart broken, and probably wouldn't love him anymore, and for a fact wouldn't want to have a family with a liar and cheater. But if he continued to lie to her, she would be heart broken too, but she would bring out an old friend he didn't know about.
