Sorry I've been gone for so long. But I'll try to get this story back on schedule~
Y/n opened her eyes to darkness. Her wrists and ankles were tied together, and she was lying on her side on a cold, dirty cement floor. "M-Minuet?"
No response besides a muffled groan.
She reached out for the groan in the darkness. It was the only sensory input she had to go on, except the chill of the damp air on her skin. Her hands eventually found a soft ear.
Y/n patted his face, trying to wake him. She realized he was blindfolded and gagged. She removed the cloth from his mouth and eyes. "Minuet. Get up."
She saw his eyes open, their soft green glow appearing like a firefly on a summer night. "Y/n... Where are we?"
"I don't know... I can't see. Can you see anything?"
"Um... We're in a very familiar place..."
"What's it look like?"
"It looks like a basement. Or a dungeon. There are chains attached to the wall over to our left. There are stairs to our right."
"Chains?!"
"Shh. We don't want them to know we're awake. It'll make escape much easier. But yes, chains. Black ones, with collars and wrist and ankle cuffs."
"Wait... Have you been here before?"
"When they caught me, they brought me here. I was chained over there." His eyes slid to the left, and she understood.
The question bubbled up in her mind. "How'd you get out?" She moved closer to him, beginning to try and untie his hands.
He smiled, and she saw a slight edge in his eyes. "They made everything Scherzo sized. I'm a lot smaller than he is. And quieter, too."
"But... Didn't the chains hurt?"
"Yes. They did." His hands were free now, and he began undoing the ropes around his ankles.
Now that she was closer, and paying attention, she could see slight burn marks on his neck. "That burn... Is that what happens when you come in contact with that black metal?"
"Yes. Now, hurry. Free your ankles. Focus."
She did as she was told, and the room was filled with silence for a long time. Minuet finished first, and began helping her. Eventually, they both stood, free. But Y/n still couldn't see. "Minuet, I need you to lead me to the light."
He looked over at her, and she could make out the ghost of a smile before he said, "You could make your own."
"I can?"
"Yeah... Just imagine a light, or... Do whatever you normally do to do magic."
"Oh... Okay." She closed her eyes, picturing an orb of light the color of Minuet's eyes in her palm.
When she opened them, there it was. Its soft, comforting glow had the same effect as Minuet's gaze. She instantly felt safer.
"Wow... It's beautiful..." She murmured quietly.
"It's... Something." He was smiling his crescent moon smile again. But then he seemed to remember where they were. "We need to get out."
"Yeah. Let's go." She lead the way to the stairs. At the top, nearly ten feet high, a small sliver of light escaped the bottom of the door. "Can you hear anyone up there?"
His ears perked up. He seemed to be trying to pick up a sound. "No... Nothing besides footsteps a few floors up. If we're quiet, we should be able to get away easily."
By now, they should know nothing is that easy.
MAYBE FREEDOM, MAYBE TRAP.
And also. I heard the second one is FINALLY coming out, so... This entire fanfic may be rendered useless and inaccurate.
... If it is, I'll probably just act like nothing happened and continue the story.
Or I may alter it to fit the new plot.
Sayonara for now~
