Snow

Y/n opened the door at the top of the stairs. The soft glow of her orb dimmed as she entered the harsh light of the hallway.

Minuet was right behind her, listening intently for any sign of a trap. He heard nothing. He nodded at her silently, and she quietly advanced, peeking around the corner.

She turned and looked back at him, and he followed.

The halls were clear, the doors unlocked. Every last one. Almost like someone wanted them to escape...

Though they'd only been captive (and awake enough to realize it) for a very short time, they were both incredibly relieved to taste the crisp night air.

The comforting, warm light from the streetlamps glinted off of the freshly fallen snow. The hour was so late that the two hardly saw anyone else, and they eventually relaxed. Y/N eyed Minuet quietly.

"What?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, nothing~" she said, holding her small ball of snow behind her back. He didn't buy it.

"What'cha got there, Y/N?"

"Hmm?" she questioned innocently. The ball was now halfway as big as she wanted it.

"You've got both hands behind your back. You're hiding something..."

"Nuh-uh." she shook her head.

He stepped closer. She backed up a little.

"Yeah, you've got something." Another step. He was within arm's reach now.

Y/N was beginning to feel slightly flustered, and she didn't really know why, or what to say. So she took another step back.

He silently stepped closer. Her back was against the wall, and he was so close that their frozen breath intermingled. He smiled down at her and slowly pressed his hands to the brick wall on either side of her. effectively caging her in. Her brain, now distracted by his closeness, didn't register that she'd dropped the snowball.

Y/n felt her breaths get shallower. Her heart was beating so fast and loud, he must have heard it. And he must have, because the next moment, he had backed away and was blushing and apologizing.

"Ah, sorry, sorry, don't know what got into me there... Ha-ha..."

She blinked quietly, and had a sudden quiet moment. She felt everything in the world around her slow, her focus sharpening. She saw each individual snowflake in Minuet's hair, the way he nervously tugged at his sleeves. She even noticed his heartbeat as if it was her own, pounding in her ears.

She stepped forward, pulled him down a bit with his turtleneck, and kissed him. It lasted a long second. She pulled away before his shock wore off. "I don't know what got into me, either."

He stood there in frozen silence, as though he were a statue buried in the ever-deepening snow. Y/n turned and began walking away, in the direction of the subway. (or the Tube, for the British people here.)

He shook off the thin layer of snow that had collected and jogged after her.  Neither of them knew what to say.

Minuet broke the silence after they boarded the subway. "What... What was that?"

Y/n laughed. "That was a kiss."

He tilted his head. "I know that. I mean... Why?"

". . . I'd be lying if I said I haven't been wanting to for a while."

"To kiss someone?"

"No. To kiss you."

"Oh."

Y/n frowned. "Please make a response to that. I'm in suspense."

"I... I have been, too."

She felt a smile creeping over her face. "We should do it again sometime."

"We should definitely do it again. When we get back home. And clean up a bit."

Paris looked out his study window, watching the two of them leave. He sighed. "Illion. I want you to make sure she's safe. But don't harm the... creature."

"Which one?" Illion asked smartly.

"Don't hurt either of them." He turned back to look out the window, into the swirling snow. The frost encasing it made it nearly impossible to see out of, at this point.

Illion nodded and left him to his unrest.

I got caught with yaoi. I've been grounded- still am, actually. But school started back up, so now I use the computer there. And never fear! I have been writing! Now I just gotta type everything. ÒvÓ
