I didn't know where I was. I couldn't see, couldn't feel, couldn't move, couldn't hear, couldn't breathe. The last thing I remembered was crossing the street on my way to work. Did I get to the other side? Wait- am I dead!?!
"Yes." An older, more formal, clear female voice called out, echoing. My hearing is back, that's good. But is she talking to me?
"Yes." I started to breathe heavier. She can hear my thoughts. Where am I?
"You're in the recovery stage, not long before you move on to the infamous philosophy stage shall I say. Enjoy these moments lying down, you seemed quite tired when that bus hit you today. " I gulped down the truth, because I hadn't slept in eternity to be honest. "And I bet Chris is going to bust your ass every day here. " She chuckled but I could still hear the seriousness in her voice. Who's Chris?
"Your guardian. After you complete this stage, you will live here in purgatory with a guardian. He will protect you, and you must figure out if he is good or evil. If you don't figure it out or do not wish to, you will become a guardian yourself and Chris will permanently become a guardian here in purgatory. If you figure it out, he will go where he belongs and you will go to the other side. "
My vision started to clear up and I could clearly see the white cloth covering my eyes. I could feel the icy water behind my back rush faster downstream, the wind feeling worse over my naked body. Once I could listen, there were woodland creatures making noise all around.
I got up and out of the water once I arrived at the end of the stream. I looked back at the distance I traveled through in awe. I shivered where I stood in the snow, almost to a freeze.
I heard a low, deep voice muffled behind me while a chilling feeling ran down my spine.
"You must be Elijah."I turned around and looked up in shock to tall, muscular man behind a wolf mask in layers and jeans. He lifted the mask to reveal is handsome face and to give me the most pleasant, welcoming smile I've ever received. His brown eyes gaped at mine, his matching cocoa-colored hair lifted to limp with the mask. I couldn't help but stare, not minding the cold too much anymore.
" You seem excited..." My eyes widened quickly and I looked down at my groin where his eyes have been pinned. I covered my hard-on and he laughed with a beautiful grin while handing me a blanket he had been holding behind him. I wrapped it around myself tight and he wrapped
his arm around my shoulders as he lead me out of the woods.
