"I'm sorry sir, but the position is now occupied."

"This group is for former college attendees only."
"Where does it say that?"
"It's implied."

"Get lost, loser."

I used to wonder how Heaven got so crowded when the contents of Pandora's box were on every street corner and subway and apartment complex back in Earth, but it hit me that Hell is too crowded to fit the biased people in.

One morning I was eating cereal with Chris on a day he wasn't working when his phone buzzes from an incoming call. He quickly picked it up and started talking nicely to a guy, the way he talks to me. Was he flirting? I knew he was too focused on the call to listen to my thoughts because he was stirring his milk as he giggled like a school girl.

I know I shouldn't have been envious of my only friend having other friends but c'mon! We were having a delightful silent brunch together when this "Willaem" guy rudely interrupted. Who does he think he is?

When he finished the call I made sure to look at him with an extra stink in my eye and it showed results.

"What?" I just looked back at my cornflakes and let him wonder why I'm upset all of a sudden.
"Look, he's an old buddy who wants to meet here in purgatory." He nudged me in a loving way, "He likes art . . . he has artists as friends and beautiful works of art and probably some poets- you can probably learn something!"

I got his enthusiasm and all but learn something?? I'm a good artist, and I know every artist can learn something from another, but it doesn't mean I will learn something I would really need to be a good artist. I picked up my bowl and went to the sink, setting it down and starting to wash it.

"Did I offend you?" No answer.
"Look I didn't mean to,.." He had slunk out of his chair and came walking up behind me. He started to kiss my neck softly, "I like you, and you should know that by now. If you don't, you're crazy. Meet him. Become friends." He turned me around and pulled his body against mine. I couldn't help but blush and for a damn good reason. "Because I think someone who can outsmart by middle school bully is hot."
