"Be nice."

'Yeah, yeah . . ." I rolled my eyes and nodded my head to the sound of Chris's voice. He laughed off my rude humor, giving me a gorgeous grin.

We were waiting at a café two blocks away from Chris's apartment for Willaem to show. By the way Chris talked about him, he seemed intimidating. Chris didn't say he was big and buff and rude, quite the contrary -- he praised Willaem for changing ; but Chris held back any memories while talking about him that would solidify his statement.

I stopped thinking about how nervous I am quickly so that he didn't catch on and listen in. I looked down at the coffee I ordered and I stir it to give my hands something to do for the time being. I heard the bell of the café door open, I heard the footsteps of a light man, I heard Chris's chair scoot back, and both of their celebrations from seeing each other for the first in a long time. I looked up.

Willaem looked beautiful. He was a lean, tall man with soft, glowing white skin and dark chocolate brown hair. He held his hand out so we can shake each other's, but my dumbass stayed in a trance until he sat down.

I looked across the table towards Chris, trying to make him read my thoughts.

Is that Willaem?

By the way he looked at Willaem and listened to the reason he is late, I could tell he wasn't even noticing my thoughts roaming his mind.

" Sorry I'm late, I had to figure out which café you were referring to. I went to a couple different ones before getting here. I thought I was going crazy."

He sent gummy smiley faces toward me but even cuter ones towards Chris. And I could tell Chris wasn't reading my brain but his. Calling me jealous was an understatement, but it wasn't something I never experienced.

I faked a smile.

Once Chris finally noticed me again he properly introduced us.

"Willaem, this is Ethan."

"Really nice to meet you, Ethan."

"Nice to meet you too, Willaem."

The waiter cut off our small competition of glares accompanied with paper smiles. He ordered such a long extravagant drink the ingredients alone filled up two of the employee's order sheets. I took an iced tea and Chris took his coffee black.

To keep myself from breaking character, I avoided eye contact with Chris for most of the time.

Willaem loved talking about his travels as a guardian without an angel. He didn't want to be questioned or interrupted though so Chris and I stayed quiet for a good portion of the visit. Scratch that-- the whole visit. When he was finally done with his last story and there was a second of silence his phone vibrated and he was staring at it while getting up.

"Oh, hate to do this but I have an important meeting here in the city, one I cannot miss. How about we meet up some other time? It was great meeting you, Ethan. And great seeing you again, Chris." He leaned up to Chris in the hug and kissed him.
