Attack Sequence

The pod shield suddenly weakened, as more energy was diverted to the main controls to delete the attack sequence. Saterina ceased the screaming and laughed as she saw it.

"Yes, IDS technology may not be as advanced as Jupiter's but my IDS has been improving as you have."

"Don't be too smug," Ken said, his eyes narrowing. He jumped aside without looking up as a huge piece of the ceiling fell to where he stood.

Saterina grinned. She narrowed her eyes and psychically screamed her banshee-like voice at the Jupitian Prince, sending a huge wave of kinetic energy.

The pod dragon flapped slowly backwards. The fire was certainly destroying part of the data, but it was an endless stream. The main computer was on a loop to repeatedly send the attack sequence.

Taking another deep breath, the dragon puffed out white fire and flew towards the tunnel, destroying the sequence as it headed for the data outlet.

The entire pod shut down except for a barely powered shield. Ken focused. Silent and high frequency sound waves emitted from his head to counter Saterina's annoying and nowhere-near-opera standard psychic screaming. It was a battle of the waves. The whole base shook as the waves deflected off each other and bounced to the walls of the control room.

Ken eyed the screen behind Saterina showing the virtual reality situation. It seemed hopeless. The pod was fighting an endless stream.

The entire Andes rumbled as it threatened to fall back into the base. The peak cracked along the launch tunnel. The psychic battle continued. Refocusing, Ken diverted some of his mental energy on the stop button on the computer and pressed it with his psychic abilities. The sequence stopped.

However, that maneuver cost him something, his momentary distraction allowed Saterina to gain some ground. He leapt away, barely missing the kinetic energy that hit the floor.

Right before him, Ken saw Saterina's eyes separate to look at different directions like a goldfish. They moved to the back of her head as she kept her psychic screaming to ward off Ken's counter-attack. She saw the sequence upload program halted. Her eyebrows on her face knitted in front as the screaming sound intensified throughout the floor. Ken quickly refocused in his silent telekinetic resistance. The room continued to shake as the waves bounced off each other to their surroundings. A loud crash came from behind the pod. A chunk of rock above them had fallen on the floor above them, blocking the entrance made by the pod through the ceiling. The Andes rumbled.

"This is a fold mountain. You shouldn't really worry." Saterina answered as if reading Ken's thoughts, and as her eyes moved back.

Ken looked at Saterina. The hall resounded with Saterina's screams intensifying, yet Saterina was standing there talking to him appearing totally relaxed!

Puzzled, Ken asked, "What are you? No Saturnian could have done what you have done."

"I am more than a Saturnian, my prince. I have Venusian blood in me.

Don't be sad if I defeat you. It's only natural. You are in my galaxy."

"Pity you don't love nature like a Venusian," Ken replied sarcastically.

"Yeah, really a pity," Saterina replied with even more sarcasm.

"You are definitely more than a Saturnian Venusian."

"You catch on fast, my prince. That is correct. Yet, I'll keep it my little secret for the very time being. I will reveal it to you, the next time we meet... if we meet again..."

An explosion occurred behind Jack; a PEIDB pod had been shot down. "Another friend lost," Jack mumbled as he sent another missile at the big IDS warship. With the light of the Sun gone, the Secret Council's black helicopters had lost their cutting edge and were now mostly dodging from IDS lasers, but were apparently failing to do that very well. Their fighter planes were no more pathetic than they were.
