Will He Be Okay?

Chase sat by Oliver's bedside, watching his boyfriend's chest rise and fall as he slept peacefully. Chase couldn't take his eyes off of Oliver's neck, where there was a hand mark from when Kaz choked him.

Chase shook his head at the fact that Kaz tried to kill his best friend and that he betrayed the team. And the boy he said he liked. Chase just couldn't believe what has happened in the past few days and he knew for damn sure that when Oliver woke up he was going to have trouble processing what Kaz had done and tried to do.

Chase would have to help Oliver around the house because he'd broken his leg, had a stage four concussion and his throat would be sore for a while. Oliver's leg would eventually heal but it would be slow at best even though it had already began to heal itself. Chase gave it a day or two before Oliver's leg was completely healed. His concussion was another thing though. It was stage four so not only will it take longer to heal, Chase was worried that it would take a bigger tole on him.

"God why did this happen?" Chase whispered putting his head in his hands.

"Chase?" A raspy broken voice said.

Chase looked up and saw Oliver staring at him, his wide blue eyes filled with pain and sorrow and confusion. Chase smiled slightly at him and said,

"I'm here Ollie. I'm here."

Oliver glanced down at his leg and saw how it was broken and he reached a hand up to rub his throat. Oliver whimpered and Chase had to close his eyes so he wouldn't have to see him tear up. Oliver was so vulnerable right now and he needed Chase to be strong. So Chase swallowed down his feelings and opened his eyes.

"You're going to be okay, Oliver." Chase told him. "And I'm not going anywhere."

"Promise?" Oliver's voice was soft and shaky, which caused Chase to grab his hand in his own and squeeze it tightly. Chase stared straight into his eyes and made sure that Oliver felt his love.

"I promise." Chase said firmly. Oliver smiled at him and yawned. "Go to sleep, Oliver. I'll be here when you wake up."

Oliver nodded and closed his eyes. Chase watched his chest rise and fall and listened to his heart beat as it began to slow, indicating that he was asleep. Chase sighed and combed his fingers through his hair. He really wished there was a way to erase what happened with Kaz from Oliver's mind and there was but...there was no way he'd do that to him. And besides no matter whether he did, everyone else remembered and Oliver would find out again and then it would have been for nothing.

The door opened to Oliver's room and Chase looked up to find Bree standing in the doorway, watching him with a somber expression on her face. Chase turned away from her and focused his attention back on Oliver. He knew all too well what she was going to say to him. And he wished she wouldn't. But she did.

"You need to eat something Chase. It's been three days." Bree says.

That's right. It's been three days since the fight that went down in the subway. Oliver has been unconscious for three days and Chase has not left his side since.

Chase shook his head. "I'm not leaving his side, Bree."

Bree sighed and turned to leave the room, leaving Chase alone with his boyfriend. Sometimes he didn't even know why she bothered, knowing what his answer would be. If he was in her shoes he would have given up already. But she continued to come and tell him he needed to leave Oliver's side and come eat something but as always she got the same answer. Which was, 'I'm not leaving his side' and he knew she was tired of it.

Honestly though, things would be much easier and better if they had never brought Kaz back because he was getting into everyone's head. Saying things he knew would tick them off and Chase was the main person he went after. The things he said about Oliver made Chase sick and he wanted so badly to kill him right then and there.

The things he said he wanted to do to Oliver made him sick. It made Chase all the more protective of him, made him never want to leave his side. Chase had made a vow three days ago to protect Oliver no matter the cost and he made the rest of the team swear to do the same, including Donald and Douglas. He made them swear that no matter what happened to him, they would do whatever they had to in order to keep Oliver safe.

Kaz had betrayed them all. He had betrayed his and Oliver's friendship as well as their promise to always be there for each other. No matter what. Chase knew that Oliver would be sad and angry with Kaz for the betrayal and would want to kill him hisself when he was better.

The door openes again and Skylar walked in. She came to stand beside the chair Chase was sitting in.

"Will he be okay?" She asked quietly.

Chase looked up at her, his eyes full of sadness. "I don't know."
