I walk down the hall. No one is present. The bell had rung several minutes ago and no club activities had started yet.

"What are you saying, Mark? That's nonsense!" Someone shouted

That was Emily Grote: the inhumane being. "But, Emily, it is true! And we need to go, now!"

Mark Liano, another inhumane being. He's more of an animal really. "You expect me to believe that the freaking Sphinx is after me?!"

Spinx? Sphinx? What?

"Shh! You'll just make it worse! I don't expect you to believe, I expect you to trust me! Now, come on! He'll probably be here soon."

He? Does he mean the creature down the hall? The one with three heads and a lion body with the hind part of a goat? Snake tail and dragon wings?

I didn't even get to think more of it when they ran out of the room.

I hid.

A strong breeze has the lockers shuddering, after it, and the floor quakes. Mark and Emily's footsteps echoed quicker. "I told you not to speak his name!"

"That's not his name, isn't it?! Besides, it isn't even here!"

"Just, hurry!"

Black spots linger in my peripheral vision, I stumble out of my hiding place and fall on the floor.
