The trees seem to loom over us as we stand in front of each other, two rogues and three pack members. I forgot that a small pack lives in the vicinity of Georgy, if I'm not mistaken they're called the Crescent Moon Pack (another unoriginal pack name). First time I came in contact with them, though.
After they stole the semi-Nagtagago, we had no choice but to follow them to this secluded place. Nao looked ready to lunge, but that wouldn't be favorable to us one bit, since we will only get a pack on our back if three of their boys went back wounded.
"What are you disgusting and feral creatures doing in civilization?" These pack members are getting bold lately, bullying peaceful rogues, but when they get hurt it's suddenly our fault.
It makes me sick.
And when did I look feral and when did the rule that I couldn't be in civilization arise?
"Not stealing from people, that's for sure." It came out before I could control it, making them growl at me. I don't take a step back though, puffing my chest out in defiance. I have Nao with me.
Sure, I've never seen him fight, but he appears competent.
When one of them takes a step forward, I shuffle a foot back, but Nao has me covered by releasing a deep growl that makes them all flinch. The one in the middle smirks, hiding his fear.
His index finger goes up while he twirls the black chains around his finger. Nao flinches and so do I, if that thing gets broken and my efforts go to waste, shit's going down.
Calm down, I tell myself.
"Good morning," I greet, giving them a polite smile. "Can we please have what belongs to us back?"
"You probably stole it," the one on the left says. Trust me, if I could've stolen it, I would.
"On the contrary." I don't follow up with anything, since I don't have a clue what to say next. I'm not going to beg and they're not going to give it back before having their fun.
The one in the middle, the leader, throws it back and forth between his hands and my eyes follow it, but he stops and hands it to his fellow on the right. He looks between the two of us and his smirk widens.
"Are you two mates?" he asks, making his two friends and I frown, I look at Nao but he focuses on not snapping the guy in two.
"No...?" Why would he ask that? ...Oh shit.
"Come here," he orders and I frown, angry, but we need to get the Nagtagago back.
"Seriously dude?" his friend whispers, turning to him.
"Why not, she's pretty cute." He shrugs and both his friends turn to me, judging, I take a step back. They both hum in agreement, before smirking my way. From my peripheral view I see a nerve forming on Nao's forehead.
"So what do you say?" he asks and I'm on the point of throwing up.
I hold it down and give a shy smile. "Sure, why not?" I shrug, ignoring Nao's pointed stare. I push the panda beanie further down my head, hiding my forehead with it to give me a false sense of security.
I take a step towards them and hold my trembling hands behind me, terrified of the idea of someone touching me in that way.
I signal for Nao to wait and see as I walk towards them. The leader opens up his arms and I step in them, hardening my expression so I don't look disgusted. He wraps me in his arms and I shiver, and I know he took it as a sign of willingness.
Anything but.
I place my hands on his chest and look at him with hooded eyes, twirling my foot in the dirt. "Um, I'll come with you if you give my friend the necklace," I murmur, biting my tongue when his hand finds my lower back.
