Why is life so mean?

I was half expecting Nao to burst through a door with a shining armor and Lancelot's sword and stabbing everyone who came in his way, while I dramatically sigh in his arms. Unlikely, but it was a good dream while it lasted.

The only thing that I got wad three buff men and Cowboy closing in on me.

Great!

Maybe I shouldn't have screamed. Maybe I should've jumped out of the window at the end of the hallway when I reached the second floor, or maybe I should've tried my horrible luck and hid in one of the rooms, or maybe I should've followed my earlier instinct and said goodbye to this place.

Yet, here I am, yet again surrounded.

Cowboy grips my upper arm and by reflex I smack him in the nose, this doesn't affect him however and he grabs my wrist, twisting it behind my back. I groan, trying to untwist myself when he locks something around my wrist.

I hiss in pain as the silver burns me, digging into my arm and chipping away at my skin.

"Really?" I shout, bending over in an act of defiance when he starts dragging me down the stairs. "This is child abuse!" Cowboy ignores me, dragging me by the arm. "Are the Cenderbees even paying you? You're probably just a low-ranking runt with self-esteem issues-"

The air around me shifts, the floor beneath me disappearing. My stomach drops as I glide through the air, time seemingly slowed. It takes me a moment to realize that I'm travelling down the length of the stairs through unconventional means, but it's too late when my back crashes into a heap of broken glass and I roll around in it.

I groan, tears burning my eyes as the shards dig into my sides and face. Cowboy picks me up by my chains and I'm forced to stand up or have my shoulders dislocated by how he's manhandling me.

I ground my feet on the ground in my last act of defiance, grinding my teeth together as we glare at each other. My head snaps to the side, an angry throb forming on my face while dark red liquid seeps from my nose.

I continue to struggle when he pushes me.

"You fucking brat," he shouts, tugging at the chains so I fall back. My bottom smacks against the wooden floor and the sudden change of heights makes my head spiral, making the broken scenery before me look almost surreal. "I can end your life right here and right now if I so wish it, and trust me I wish it," he says from above me, "but the Cenderbees want to play it clean and you're making it difficult."

He grabs a fistful of my hair and yanks it to the side, I almost cry out. "Bitch..." I murmur, cringing as he pulls me away by the scalp. It burns and God do I want to end this bitch's life, but I don't have the ability to do so with my current situation. "Okay, please stop dragging me by the hair; you'll make me go bald." He yanks at it as if to prove a point.

I have failed at my attempt of escape, I lament, seeing the same door I escaped from. Cowboy takes out a chalk stick from his back pocket and starts writing odd symbols on it, burly hand swiping across the chipped surface in a haze.

The wind whispers into my ear and I flinch, the first time it had done that. I had heard from other werewolves that sometimes an eerie breath of words flow into their ears, something perceivable that should be impossible to perceive with even their sensitive ears, but they do, and when they do it is because someone is calling for them.

"NAO!!!" I call the name again out of desperation, holding on to single straw while I'm drowning. Cowboy jerks in surprise at my sudden outburst and I notice the door giving off an shadow before he throws me into the room, closing the door behind him.
