Nao looks stupid in sunglasses.

A fact.

I look ridiculous in a gown.

Another fact.

But both of us are dressed in what looks wrong on us, for a reason of course. The small lights that decorate the café bounce of my pearls and off Nao's dark glasses, highlighting the fact that we look stupid.

The gown is uncomfortable on me, but because of the café's aesthetic and my resolve to actually have a fun birthday out rules any signs of discomfort. And that is why Nao is dressed in a rented suit and sunglasses.

Just for today I want to feel somewhat special. And what better way to feel so than dressed in a princess gown with a 'bodyguard'?

"I don't like this," Nao grumbles for the hundredth time, and I ignore him. My attention is focused on the waitress in the maid outfit that is strolling through the place towards us, large cake in hands.

I press my lips together to keep from squealing, a dream of mine coming true. Cali Castle has strict requirements if you want to have a special time, one of them being having at least two people present.

I always managed to sabotage my relationships, so I never had someone to drag along.

The second requirement is to dress appropriately, so I forced Nao to wear that suit and I forced myself to wear this gown.

As the maid comes to a stop in front of our table, the other 'servants' pop up and start singing the birthday song to me, ending every line with 'your highness'. I clap along with them while Nao sits there looking embarrassed and out of place.

They leave and I'm left alone with a large quantity of food, beverages, and vanilla cake. All for one hundred pacos! If that isn't a deal, I don't know what is!

I shove my ID back into the pouch, ready to throw it back into the locker and be on my way. But first, let me stuff my face.

The grilled chicken is amazing. The fried rice is amazing. The fish soup is delightful. The honey dumplings are nothing to frown about. The vegetarian burger can't be hated. The strawberry juice is something to write home about. And the sundae makes me want to cry happy tears.

After finishing my part, I start picking at Nao's, to which he slaps my hand for.

We enter a competition, me trying to steal and him trying to prevent me from doing so. My hands are bright red and stinging when all the plates are empty, and Nao chews on his last bit of fried rice with a smirk.

"I win," he says when he swallows.

"It's my birthday." I pout, crossing my arms.

"So?" I stick my tongue out at him and he smiles.

I stare at his face for awhile longer, watching him cut a piece of cake to eat. His lips fall back into a straight line, white icing coating a part of his lips as he eats the confectionary.

He looks up at me, one eyebrow quirking up. "Not gonna have some?" he asks and I snap out of it, grabbing my own fork and taking a piece of the cake.

It's impossible to eat it all, but since we're in Longboard, a city close to both Lake Maoutsu and Georgy, I can deliver some of the sweets to some people, especially to Louella and her kids.

After the maid comes back, Nao pays – since it's my birthday – and we leave the place.

The city of Longboard will always hold a special place in my heart. The tourist attraction beckons me to come in whenever I have some money to spend. With its luxurious boutiques, amusement parks, countless restaurants and malls, all with economic prices.
