Torn Grass, Dirty Cleats [Soccer AU]

[Third Person]

"Alright Team! This is it! The final game, this is our everything." Annabeth yelled, ponytail bouncing. "Our skills will be tested, our teamwork pushed to the max, and our minds functioning in perfect sync with our teammates!" The blonde called out, rallying the team's spirits. "THIS MAY BE TEAM JUPITER, BUT TEAM HALF-BLOOD WILL PREVAIL! THIS RIVALRY WILL END WITH US ON TOP!" Annabeth roared, the rest of the team cheering. "SO LET'S GET OUT THERE AND FIGHT!" The team grabbed a soccer ball and raced out the door.

"Wow Wise Girl. That was some motivational speech." Percy smiled, blue soccer ball tucked under his arm. "Well this is in a way war." Annabeth stated, stretching. "Yeah, I guess. But still, you were pretty hot." Percy whispered, landing over and giving Annabeth a kiss on the cheek. He went to kiss her on her lips, but Annabeth stopped him short. "Oh no, Seaweed Brain. You have to earn that. I may let you kiss me after we win the game." The blonde teased, turning on her heel and marching into the field. Percy grumbled and ran into his position. The ref joined them on the side of the field along with team Jupiter. "Listen up, I'm your referee for today's game. My name is Miss Reyna, and if you TRY ME, there WILL be consequences." Reyna growled. The players nodded and exchanged glares at the other rival enemies. "What are we waiting for? MOVE!" Reyna yelled, teams in position. The ref blew the whistle, and the teams shot off like a rocket, the ball a blur across the field as it moved from player to player. "Go long!" Katie called as the grass grew greener as she slammed her foot into the ball, passing it to Leo, who took off down the field, ball literally steaming as he made contact with it, launching it towards the goal. The goalie jumped high into the air and grabbed the ball right before it scored. "Yeah Jason!" Hazel screamed, cheering for her teammate. "That was so unfair! No normal human being can jump 10 FEET IN THE AIR!" Leo grumbled, stalking back to his team's side of the field. Jason tossed the ball in, Octavian dribbling closer to Team Half-Blood's goal, dodging everyone as if he knew everyone's moves. "I got this." Piper said as she stole the ball from Octavian, earning a string of curses from the blonde. "Mister Octavian! I will not tolerate that kind of language on my field! Understand me?" Reyna yelled. He nodded. Leo cursed from down the field, Reyna glaring at him. "Leo! NO SWEARING!" Reyna repeated. "Yeah, yeah." Leo grumbled. Piper ran down the field, asking a rival player named Caleb to please stop following her, and to his surprise, he did. Piper nailed the ball into the net, the ball slipping right through Jason's fingers. "Alright!" She cheered, high-fiving Annabeth. "One point team Half-Blood!" The ref called, setting the ball in the middle of the field. Hazel snagged the ball before anyone else, and every player that ran after her seemed to trip over the ground and fall. "One point Team Jupiter!" Reyna called.

"Jupiter has 3 points, Half-Blood has 4." Reyna called, addressing the teams at half time. The team subbed in, Erik becoming the goalie putting Jason on the field. Reyna blew the whistle, and Dakota took the ball, heading down the plain. Annabeth kicked the ball out from his legs, flicked it in the air, bounced it off her knee, and nailed the ball with a whip kick high in the air, sending the ball flying across the entire length of the field, stopping only when it came in contact with Team Jupiter's net. All was silent before Hazel whispered, "Woah." "Half-Blood 5, Jupiter 3." Reyna yelled, startling everyone out of their shock. "That's my Wise Girl." Percy laughed. Drew, a Half-Blood player, had the ball until Frank stood in front of her, blocking her way and making her freeze. "Jupiter 4, Half-Blood 5." A Jupiter boy, Michael, sent the ball sailing through the air, Thalia jumping to the top of the net and grabbing the ball in her arms. "Yeah Thals!" Annabeth cheered, smiling. Connor and Travis Stoll weaved in and out of the players, one organism in the cell of the game. There victory was short lived, however, as Jupiter players Erik and Nathan stole the ball away from them. "5-5." The ref yelled. Percy accessed the ball and glided down the field as if he were water, fast and efficient, stunning the goalie when the ball flew past his face. "Jupiter 5-Half-Blood 6." Lillanne started down the field before Nico effectively stole the ball, flying down the field as if he weren't there at all. "Half-Blood 7, Jupiter 5." Will Solace was winding up for the kick when he abandoned the ball to help out an injured viewer off to the side, leaving Lindsey to score for the Jupiters. "6-7." Percy and Jason came head to head, Percy kicking at Jason's legs as the blonde swung for his arm. "FOUL, FOUL!" Reyna screamed, blowing her whistle repeatedly. Both boys glared as they nursed their sore arm and bruised leg, leaving the perfect opening for Dakota to slip through and tie up the game. "7-7." "SEAWEED BRAIN!" Annabeth roared from the opposite end of the field. "5 MINUTE WARNING!" The ref warned, the face of each and every player setting into determination. Frank and Hazel joined forces to successfully score another point for team Jupiter. "8-7." Percy and Annabeth were a whirlwind, unstoppable. "ONE MINUTE!" The ref screamed. "Percy! GO!" Annabeth yelled, kicking the ball straight to the raven-haired teen. Percy took a deep breath and whipped around, driving the ball straight to home. "SCORE! GAME OVER!" Reyna screamed, a sharp whistle filling the air. Annabeth sighed, and both teams exchanged a tense "Good game".

"Soooo, I know we tied, and we didn't technically win OR lose, so do I get that kiss?" Percy asked Annabeth as they walked out of the locker room, hand in hand. "Hmmm. Well, you did-" She was cut off as Percy interjected, "Let the Jupiters score a point, yeah, I know. I really messed u-" Percy was cut off as Annabeth pressed her lips against his. They pulled away after a few seconds. "I was going to say score the tying point, but that works too." Annabeth smiled. Percy looked confused. "So that kiss was for-" "That kiss was for being my Seaweed Brain."

Ok, so let me explain a few things. In this one-shot, none of the characters have their actual Demi-God powers, but talents and skills that are based off of them. Also: a soccer team is 11 players, so I added Drew (Aphrodite) and Katie (Demeter) on the Greek team even though they're not commonly seen characters. The Roman team, however, consists of Jason+Frank+Hazel, Dakota (Wine God ), Octavian (Apollo), and MADE UP CHARACTERS bc there weren't enough Roman characters That I could remember and I didn't have wifi to look some up. REYNA is the referee bc she's so honest and fair. I am aware that I used some characters that are dead in the books, but in this AU they're all alive. ONE LAST THING: they all play like they are connected to their element (ex: Percy moves like water, Nico's almost invisible, etc.)
