Hello everybody! It's TheGamingDog! A couple chapters ago in Carnage (my other story so far), I mentioned about a new story coming out that would revolve around the Portal game series. Well, this is it! Welcome to Portal: Welcome To Aperture! A few things: #1: The events of the two Portal games have never happened in the story (so, for example, GLaDOS is still in her original Portal form, and the facility isn't dilapidated.). #2: I will be borrowing some quotes and chambers from the two games, so some lines and chambers may be from the games, or some of them may be new ones I have made up. #3: I do NOT, in the slightest, own Valve (the company behind Portal), the Portal games, or any of their characters! This is just my twist on the game of Portal! And, lastly, the chapters are divided up by chamber. So, for Chamber 00 (this one), I will just write about that chamber. Got it? I bet ya do! Hope you enjoy it, and I will see you in the comments! Peace!
You opened your eyes for the first time in a very long time. You were sleeping on a small bed, encapsulated in a small cocoon. The glass hatch above you slid open, and you stepped out. You saw that you were trapped in a small glass room, with a toilet, a mug, a clipboard with instructions on it, and a radio tuned to 85.2 FM, playing a catchy instrumental of some song. You looked around and saw white tiles right outside your little room, making a small hallway. You could see an open door around the corner. You also saw two different timers, one outside just above a panel, and there was a timer in your cage, just above the same type of bright white panel. They both read the same time. At 00:40:00.00, you heard a voice that nearly made you jump.
"Hello, and, again, welcome to the Aperture Science computer-aided enrichment center."
You thought this strange, robotic voice might be done, but it wasn't. The voice, clearly a woman, went on.
"We hope your brief detention in the relaxation vault has been a pleasant one."
"Your specimen has been processed and we are now ready to begin the test proper."
"Before we start, however, keep in mind that although fun and learning are the primary goals of all enrichment center activities, serious injuries may occur."
"For your own safety and the safety of others, please refrain from--"
The voice buzzed out for a moment. The lights around you flickered on and off. You thought the voice might have glitched out, but you were, yet again, wrong, as the woman, in a very odd, deep voice, spat out a burst of Spanish at lightning pace.
"Por favor bordón de fallar Muchos gracias de fallar gracias"
There was another fizzle, then the voice returned as normally as it had been before, still clearly finishing the sentence before:
"stand back. The portal will open in three, two, one."
The robotic voice switched off, and a portal instantly appeared on the white panel in front of you. You walked out and saw the room you were just in right in front of you. You glanced backwards and saw a blue portal right behind you.
Did I just go through a portal?
You could now finally see yourself. You had on an orange jumpsuit that came down to your knees, and two weird devices were strapped to your legs. You saw that you were barefoot, but there didn't seem to be anything that would hurt the soft flesh there, so you really didn't mind. Your dark black hair was wrapped in a ponytail. You looked pretty normal for just getting out of bed for the first time in a...
...very long... time?
You walked down the lit corridor and trotted through a door. There, you saw a large red button. In the far corner of the room, there was a large machine that had a tube running into it from the top. Inside, you could see that there was a large cube inside. You nervously inched closer, and the dome opened, dropping the cube down. You picked it up wondering what to do.
You saw that the red button had a series of blue circles on the floor leading from it to the door that stood in your way. You walked over and dropped the large solid on the button, which gave a satisfying "ding." Then the door swooshed open, and the mysterious robot came on again.
"Excellent. Please proceed into the chamberlock after completing each test."
You walked forward into an enclosed hallway, which you assumed was the chamberlock. You saw an odd sight just in front of the elevator, though. Lots of tiny particles swished by. It was almost like a curtain, but you could see past it. You wondered what it was. As if answering your question, the woman came on the PA.
"First, however, note the incandescent particle field across the exit."
"This Aperture Science Material Emancipation Grill will vaporize any unauthorized equipment that passes through it - for instance, the Aperture Science Weighted Storage Cube."
You walked through the Emancipation Grill. Fortunately, nothing happened to you.
You stepped onto the elevator, and the double-doors closed behind you. As you waited for where it would deliver you, you looked up and saw an illuminated sign.
Aperture Laboratories...
