She really did not want Four to leave. She wanted him to stay and be there for her in the morning, and then come back again in the evening. Hell, he should just move in because she absolutely adored his company.
"Thank you so much for coming over today. It means a lot to me," she whispered because the kids were asleep and she didn't want to wake them.
Four stepped into her personal space, moving so Tris was against the front door that he was just about to walk through. He had changed his mind.
He lifted his shaking hands to shyly tuck a piece of hair behind Tris' ear. "This has been one of the best days of my life. I hope to do it again tomorrow if I'm welcome," he murmured, running his nose along her cheek. Never had he been so intimate with somebody.
Tris blushed, "If you keep it up, you're always welcome, w-with the kids I mean." She so desperately wanted him to make this a routine.
The old back screen door slammed, causing them both to jump and break from their peaceful reverie. It was followed by quiet churn of the metal knob before it was silent.
"What the hell was that?" Tris cursed, rushing to the locked door, afraid to open it.
Four gently nudged her out of the way before reaching for his cellphone. "You're not going out there. That person could be armed and waiting. My security is coming to the premises but we should notify the police."
"They won't be here for another hour or so because break ins are not their priority. I just want to go to bed," she mumbled, feeling drained from her day. "I've still got to do some laundry too."
"My security will report it then. Let me help you with your laundry so I can put you to bed."
"Absolutely not. You have to work tomorrow," she huffed, walking back to the front door to see him out. If he wasn't going to stay, he needed to rest.
"Tris, you have to work tomorrow too," he spoke, taking her arm and guiding her to the washer and dryer in the small laundry room off of the kitchen. "Let me help you fold and put it away while you start another load."
"Are you sure?" She felt awful. This was her job, something she had signed up to do when she became a parent.
He kissed her cheek affectionately before take the basket of under garments and pajamas to the clean table to fold.
Tris blushed, feeling tingly from his kiss. She never would have imagined him to be the kind of person he was.
She poured the detergent in the machine before transferring the wet load to the dryer, moving onto where Four was seperating piles of clothes for each kid to the best of his abilities.
"You can just leave them there. It's Lyle's chore to put everyone's away when he gets up."
Four shakes his head, turning to cup her cheeks to look into her eyes. "You are so amazing."
"I'm doing the best I can," she blushed, covering his giant hands with her own. "I really appreciate everything today, Four. How can I repay you?"
His lips turned up into a sly smirk, and Tris' stomach knotted with excitement at this new side of his.
"I'm awfully tired. I don't think I can drive home..."
She glanced at her couch that was definitely too small for even her.
"Hey, no funny business, Tris. Just sleep," he whispered, jokes aside, gazing into her eyes.
"I don't want the kids to get the wrong idea," she confessed quietly, "but I am their personal alarm clock," she smiled. "What about clothes?"
"I may or may not have packed extra," he grinned shyly, ushering her up the stairs.
"Sneaky sneaky," she wagged her finger before leading him into her bedroom. She had never been so intimate, close, with a man before. For once, she felt her age, but at the same time, she enjoyed being old.
After they both showered and were ready for bed, Tris pulled back the sheets, "What side do you want?"
He chuckled for the first time and Tris couldn't help but light up at the beautiful, amazing sound. "Just lay down. It's almost midnight."
She laid down, curling on her side to watch him lay down too. "What now?" she whispered, desperately wanting to laugh.
"Come here." He pulled her close, feeling the heat of her small body before kissing her head. Pure bliss.
"Good night, Love."
