Chapter 17

Naruto's POV

"For the 9th time, Naruto, where are we going?" She asked.

"And for the 9th time, Hinata, you'll know when we got there."

We're on our way to Hokkaido. Like I said, I want to help her complete her bucket list. So the first thing I want to do with her is Snowboarding. Last night, I already thought of teaching her how to surf but I suddenly remember that it's winter.

After an hour drive we arrived to our destination.

"Snowboarding is one in your bucket list. So here we are."

She turned to me with sparkles in her eyes. "Thank you. Thank you, Naruto. I can't believe we're here. I-I–" She stutters.

I chuckled at her and put my arm over her shoulder. "Let's go and check in." As soon as we got to our rooms, I changed my clothes and went down. I sent her a message to meet me at the lobby as soon as she's done doing her thing.

I went over to buy a snowboarding gear for the both of us. I didn't notice her approach me since I was busy choosing a gear for her.

"What are you doing?" She asks as she search on the racks.

"Buying us a gears." She turned to me with one eyebrow raised. "Buy?"

"Yes, buy." I said without looking at her. "You don't have to buy me things that are needed. I can afford them."

"I didn't say you can't afford them. I just want to buy things for you." I'm now looking at her. She pouted. Cute.

"No! You're not going to buy me these." She said. "Hinata, I'm going to whether you like it or not."

"No, you're not." She said as she put everything she chose on a basket beside her. Then, heads down to the counter. I immediately ran to her and slam my card on the counter top. Now, her brows furrowed. "Mr. Uzumaki, can you please?" She said through gritted teeth.

"Ms. Hyuga," I smiled widely. "Do you realize that we're fighting like a married couple?" She froze for a moment. "If I were you, just accept my offer." I said with my gritted teeth. And with that, she nodded.

"But next time, I'm buying my own things." She said without looking at me.

As soon as we finish shopping, we change our clothes and prepares for our activity.

I thought her everything I know in snowboarding and I must say she's fast learner. She learned everything in two hours. And now, we are here on the ski lift.

"How about a bet?" She said.

I chuckled. "You sure?" I heard her scoffed. "Don't be too conceited."

"Okay. Should we race down the mountain?" I suggested. Hinata nodded. "Whoever wins, the loser will do anything the winner says."

"I'll have to do whatever you want. But I think that's impossible." I smirked at her while she shook her head. "We'll start as soon as we get off this lift."

We waited for our turn and then slid off the lift. I was surprised that Hinata is leading faster than me. "I thought you're going to win? You're not even fast." She shouted.

I laughed at her and pointed at her front. She looked to her front and that's when she realize that she's about to hit a tree. She stumbles a bit but she didn't fall. Because of that she slows down, making me lead first.

"You're not even fast to beat me, Hinata!" I shouted.

I didn't hear her whine but I'm pretty sure she's getting frustrated.

We finished the race with me winning. I smiled at her as she slows down. She frowns and rolled her eyes at me, and that made me laugh. "Hey! Where are you going?"

We  ate dinner after we've changed to our winter clothes. We walked to a snowy pathway that leads to– I don't know, somewhere.

"So what do you want me to do?" I looked at her. "I'll tell you tomorrow. I had to think a harder dare for you." Her eyebrows furrowed, telling me that she's not liking the idea. "Just make sure I can do it." I chuckled at her.

I looked at her as she rubbed her hands together. I stopped and held her hands. "You're hands are freezing." I looked at her face with a slight blush.

"Do you want to go back?" She nodded. She removed her hands from mine and then she turned her back. She started to walk while I stood there watching her back. I felt my heart race.

I smiled. This feeling...

I immediately walk to her and hold her hands. Tightly.

She looked at me with wide eyes. I smiled at her. "Let's go back, Hinata." She blinked twice and then she nodded. Giving me a warm smile.

A smile that warms my heart.

Hinata's POV

He walked me to my room. While holding my hand.

With that said, it makes me blush. I don't want this to end. But as soon as we reached my room I know we had to let go.

"Thank you for this day, Naruto. I really had a great time." He nods. "I thank you too. I enjoyed this day." He said as he scratch his nape.

"Goodnight, Naruto."

"Goodnight, Hinata."

And then he turned to his room. I went inside holding my chest. Not because of chest pain. It's because my heart is beating faster.

Please, slow down.

I slowly approach the bed and then jump on it. I have no idea why I'm this happy.

Minutes later, my phone rang. I froze when I saw who the caller is.

"N-Neji-nii?"

"Lady Hinata. Are you doing fine, wherever you are?" He said. I took a deep breath before I answer.

"Of course, I am. I asked him to be with me for 3 days and I am glad that he agreed to spend it with me." I said with a genuine smile.

"I'm happy for you, Lady Hinata."

"So, why did you call? I'm certain that it has to do with... my health." My heart thumped when I heard his answer.

This is why I don't want any people to be so close to me. I love being with the people I love and I always have fun when I'm with them. They makes me forget all the things that worries me.

When I'm with him, I always thought about the future. On, what if the two of us meet first before him and my best friend.

What if I don't have any illness at all. What will happen if one of those thoughts happens?

We treat each other like a couple, but we'll never be a couple. We know our feelings for each other, but I know that we can't be together.

I always thought that there are things that has to end.

And I know just how to end it.
