So like the Lord of the Rings trilogy I got bored and watched this trilogy as well. My best friend is the reason I even knew about these and I'm so glad she told me about them.
So to start this off I want to talk about the plot line because it is amazing. If you think about it aren't we all like Thorin and the company? Trying to find and reclaim our home. That's what had me at the beginning and I loved how the story progressed until the end even though it makes me so sad. The character development in this set is beautiful as well. Also how the company eventually realised that nothing can come between family bit even greed.
Look at Thorin for example. When they finally took back the Mountain he was overcome with dragon sickness like his predecessors. None of them had been able to break free of it and he managed it which says a lot about him.
Bilbo as well has a character development that is interesting. I mean at the beginning he wanted nothing to do with the dwarves or this adventure. He was determined to stay at home. You can see though that he begins to trust the dwarves and care for them. This is really shown when he hides the Arkenstone from Thorin for his own good. He even gives it to Bard and Thaundril so hat they will help Thorin. In the end he cares for all the dwarves and is distraught by all of the deaths.
So if I had to pick a favourite it's still hard for me. I would definitely say that Kili is my number one favourite because he is such a sweetheart, but when the time comes he fights for what is right. Thorin would have to be my second because he has such a interesting character development.
So I will always rewatch this trilogy because I absolutely love them even though the last one makes me cry.
