Ghosts

Tanya's pov

This can't be happening again, not to me. I'm standing in an empty school hallway and I'm looking at my father, my dead father. Why is it always me?

"Puddles, you have to get out." His voice breaks the silence, "Puddles it's dangerous get out!" This time he yells and I do as he says. I turn and run, heading for the doors.

As I round a corner in the corridor I run straight into two people who I've never seen before, a man and a woman. The man is quite tall and is wearing a long, 40s style coat and the woman has dark hair and is about my height. The man catches me as I fall and the woman asks if I'm alright but I don't stop. After all, they could be the danger.

I go straight to Charlie's house. Miss Quill should probably know about this, after all she might know what is going on.

Matteusz opens the door and I push past him, calling to Miss Quill. Instead, I get Charlie. He quickly leads me into the kitchen and whispers that Miss Quill is asleep and will literally kill me if she gets woken up. Honestly I believe him.

I explain the situation to him and he agrees to come back to Coal Hill with me. Matteusz joins us and I text Ram and April.

When we get to the school we find a black SUV with tinted windows and the word Torchwood on it parked outside. Maybe it belongs to the people I saw inside. We carry on walking and April and Ram soon join us. I lead everyone to the place where I saw my dad but no one is there.

Suddenly Charlie puts his finger to his lips and signals that we should follow him into a nearby classroom, of course it's Miss Quill's because where else would there be trouble?

Charlie reaches the door and looks through before motioning to me to look as well. "Are those the people you saw?"

I nod.

The man looks up sharply and sees me before I can pull my head back, he is at the door before I can even react with a gun in his hand. I notice that Charlie also has his hand on the gun that he brought with him but he doesn't need to use it. the moment that the man looks at us he puts his gun down.

"It's alright, just some kids," he calls back into the room, evidently to the woman who is watching us with some level of amusement.

"So basically, you got spooked by a few schoolkids," she laughs and I realise that she's welsh.

"Who are you calling a schoolkid?" Ram calls, clearly annoyed at being seen as younger than he really is.

The people ignore him.

I step forward seeing as no one else is, "Who the hell are you?"

"Torchwood, and that is all you need to know," The man says, "Now what I want to know is where you got a Rhodian weapon, because as far as I know, they were destroyed."

I see Charlie swallow uneasily. "Never mind that, who's Torchwood."

"We deal with aliens, so if you have an alien weapon we need to know where you got it." The woman says, "Look, you aren't in trouble."

"That wasn't what I'm worried about. How do we know that we can trust you? We don't exactly have a good track record with adults." Charlie says.

"You don't?" the man says.

I open my mouth to say that I think they're trustworthy but before I can say anything Miss Quill strides in.

"Why didn't you wake me up prince? And who is this?" she says with a hint of annoyance.

"Captain Jack Harkness, and who are you?" the man replies flirtatiously.

"No no no. I mean what are you doing in my school." Miss Quill says impatiently.

"Your school?" Charlie mutters incredulously.

"And what did you mean prince?" the woman asks.

"Oh, have we not even reached that bit yet, talk about incompetent." Charlie shoots Miss Quill a warning look but she ignores him, "He was the prince of Rhodia before it was destroyed, and I am his slave."

"Prisoner," Charlie corrects her.

"It's slavery, you put a thing in my head remember!"

"Hang on, you're aliens and you didn't think to mention this to anyone?" Jack asks, "Surely UNIT has some sort of rule about that."

"The Doctor said to not tell anyone," Charlie says, "He said that he didn't trust UNIT to let us live normally."

"Wait, the doctor sent you." Jack smiles as he says this.

"He saved us from the Shadowkin and dumped us on this planet yes." I see Charlie glare at her again.

"I'm captain Jack Harkness and this is Gwen Cooper. We're here to help so you better start being straight with us." Jack says.

"What do you mean?" Charlie says, "We don't even know why you're here. What's Torchwood?"

"No that's not right," Gwen says, "You're the aliens here, you're the ones causing this, aren't you?"
"Causing what?" I say, "And Charlie and Miss Quill are the only aliens here, you've got this wrong. We protect the school from aliens."

"Why doesn't UNIT know about this Jack, shouldn't they know that there are unregistered aliens on Earth?"

"Never mind UNIT, they don't know anything."

"Look, you better explain what is going on here, I don't want to have to force it out of you." Miss Quill steps forward, "Although I doubt the prince here would let me."

Jack opens his mouth to say something but before he can, his eyes widen as he sees something behind us. I turn to see three people standing behind me; a man in a suit, a Japanese woman and a man in a white lab coat. I move backwards slowly, until I've put the gun in Charlie's hand between me and them but they don't do anything. They just stand there silently, unmoving, until they slowly fade away one by one.

"So I guess that that's the problem you were talking about then." Miss Quill says, "Well if you don't mind, it doesn't affect us and you seem to have the situation under control so I think we'll just leave you to it." she begins to move out of the door.

"No, it does affect us. I saw my father." The words escape my mouth before I can stop them.

"Yeah and I, for one, would like to know what's going on," Charlie backs me up.

Jack doesn't reply. He's still staring at the spot where the three people were, as is Gwen. They both look like they've seen a ghost, maybe they have.

A:N/ OK so this is the first chapter of Ghosts. It is not in the same universe as the Immortals storyline, it is something new.

I'm gonna try to upload regularly over the summer holidays.
