"Your first assignment will be to do a research about global warming", the teacher say as we all move seats to be with our partner. Grayson didn't say anything, he just sits down and continue listening to the teacher. "This project is due for next week, so you will be required to work on it as a homework as well", she smiles as she sits down and we all begin to work. 

"So... partner... how do we start with this?", he says opening his notebook and not looking at me. 

"I think we should just read on internet, and save the links of the web pages that have good information, and then....", I stop because I saw he was not paying attention. "Grayson... I am talking to you". 

"Sorry sweetheart", he smirked. I roll my eyes, I know him, and I can tell he is mad, I just don't know why. 

We kept in silence for the rest of the period, and as soon as the bell rings, he takes his backpack and walks away. I quickly grab my stuff and follow him, if Jackson asks I will tell him is something related with the project. 

"Grayson wait!", I say running to him as he keeps walking away. "What is wrong with you?", I ask when I reach him. He stops and faces me. 

"Leave me alone Emma. Not everything is about you", he says wanting to walk away again but I grab his arm. 

"What the hell Grayson? Why are you mad at me?". 

"Just.... stop... please". 

"Stop what?".

"Look... I know we can't be together because of your shitty boyfriend, but I also think that it is best if we keep our distance for now. I don't want to continue like this", he crosses his arms. 

"Where is all this coming from? At the party you told me..."

"What happened that night stays there. I just thought the things more clearly and I can't continue like this". 

"Why?". 

"Because.... because I can't stand seeing you two together! ok?", he pauses and looks around to see if anyone is hearing. "Today I wanted to kill Luke because of what he did to you... but then, I saw Jackson, and when he kissed you... I lost it, the hate I had towards Luke moved to Jackson. It took all the strength I had to just walk away and don't smack the shit out of him. I need to keep my distance from you, because I can't deal with the idea that you are with him", he looks down. 

"I am sorry you feel that way. You know Jackson doesn't mean anything to me, and..."

"Maybe you don't care about him, but he sure wants to shove to the entire universe that you two are together. I can't deal with that. Besides, whether you have feelings for me or not, it doesn't change that fact that you are with him".

"You know my dad..."

"I know", he pauses. "Emma, I know is going to be hard, but please, I just need sometime alone". 

"Well, that will be difficult considering we are lab partners for the entire semester". 

He looks at me, takes a deep breath and says, "I will be your lab partner; but for now, lets try to leave our relationship just like that, ok?", he walks away. 

I hate him, why is he doing this? I hate the fact that my dad's company needs Jackson's dad. I hate the fact that we can't be together. I hate the fact that I like him that much... well, I guess I said it, this feels horrible. Nobody has made me feel like this, I can't be without him, and I won't leave things like this. I have a plan. 

.... 

I put my backpack in the back seat of my car and I am ready to drive away when Sasha approaches me. 

"Emma wait!", she yells. "Hey... um... do want to do a sleepover with me?", she smiles. 

"What?", I laugh. 

"I know it's weird... but, I really need some girl talk, and you are one of my best friends". 

"Um... I am sorry Sasha, I need to work on the lab project with Grayson and...". Not true at all, but I can't deal with someone else right now. 

"Ok. Don't worry about it!", she smiles. 

"We can do it tomorrow if you want!". 

"No, it's ok. I will just call you later, ok?", she says turning around. 

"Sasha wait!", I say getting out of my car. "You can talk to me right now, what's up?".

She takes a deep breath, "you remember I told you I was with Ethan at the party?". 

I nod, "oh please... don't tell me you are pregnant!". 

"What? no! We didn't even do it". 

"Then what's wrong?". I could see she was really upset. She usually gets like that when something doesn't go as she plans, we can say she is not used to it. Sasha's family is also important around here, not to mention the billion dollars they have in their bank accounts. 

"I wanted to ask him on a date, but it didn't go as planned. I though everything was fine, until he told me that maybe I misinterpreted what happened at the party. He wanted to exchange numbers with me because I seemed 'cool'", she looks down. 

Ouch, that even hurt me. She continued, "he told me he is seeing someone already. But he really appreciates my 'friendship'". 

"I am so sorry Sash. I promise you will find someone eventually". 

"I just feel like nobody likes me you know", she begins to cry. I hug her and keep listening to her monologue. This is what she needs, a shoulder to cry, and someone to listen to her. 

After she discharged everything she had in mind, I ask her "do you know who he is 'dating'?"

"They are not officially dating right now, but I think her name is Sam or some shit like that", she says crying again. I look at the sky and soon realize I need to get back home. 

"Sasha, I need to go, I am sorry to leave you like this, but I..."

"Don't be, I know you have something to do. I will call you later ok?", she says as I smile and begin to drive away. 

I feel bad for her. Ronny, her last boyfriend broke her heart pretty bad; and I think she hasn't recovered at all. I just hope that this new girl 'Sam' doesn't do anything else to hurt her, because if she does, she will definitely get to know me. Meanwhile, I need to continue with my plan to deal with Grayson and talk to him, I know he told me he needed time, but I can't loose him. 

I park my Range Rover in front of his house and knock on the door. 

A brunette girl opens the door. I haven't seen her before, but she sure did because of what she says next. "You must be Emma! Nice to meet you, I am Sam", she smiles letting me in. What the hell? I just hope she is here for Ethan and not Grayson. She seems sweet, but you never know for sure.
